The opportunity
Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.
For our Power Products division at the Zurich-Oerlikon site, we are looking for a competent personality to lead an international team of diverse people within our high-voltage product organization. In this position, you will report to the Head of Project Engineering and benefit from a high degree of autonomy.
How you’ll make an impact
Leading the team of 1 team lead, 12 structural project managers and a small competency team in Switzerland
Functional leadership of structural engineering team located in India and Czech Republic
Overall responsibility for the successful execution of our project portfolio of projects from handover from sales through engineering, production to handover to service. Overall technical and commercial responsibility of the portfolio (Cost, Time, Scope).
Responsible for structured project review and definition of contingency measures
Improvement of the execution process in engineering and engineering project management, optimization of the process along the value chain with coordination of the involved departments
Leading design optimizations and cost savings with the defined Design-to-Value process.
Leading initiatives, living a culture of innovation and driving change
Your background
Bachelor or Master in civil engineering is a plus
Experience in steel construction and knowledge of GIS of significant advantage
Multiple years of experience as team lead with readiness to take over role as head of structural engineering
Structural analysis program knowledge (e.g. scia, staad pro, tekla)
Good communication and organizational skills and experience in intercultural cooperation
Proven experience in Project Management, Certification e.g. as PMP is a plus
Fluency in English, any other language is a plus
