The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Head, Strategy. Reporting directly to the School Chair, you will be a key member of the School's leadership team, driving strategic planning, organisational excellence, and operational effectiveness.

You will provide strategic oversight of the School's administrative, financial, and operational functions while partnering with academic and administrative leaders to translate the School's vision into actionable plans. The role is instrumental in strengthening governance, optimising resources, enhancing organisational performance, and enabling the successful delivery of the School's academic, research, and outreach priorities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and review of the School's strategic and operational plans. 

  • Partner with the School Chair and leadership team to drive strategic initiatives and organisational transformation. 

  • Oversee the School's administrative, financial, governance, and operational functions to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. 

  • Develop and monitor organisational performance indicators, providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making. 

  • Lead budgeting, resource planning, and financial stewardship to optimise resource utilisation. 

  • Strengthen governance frameworks, risk management, and policy compliance across the School. 

  • Drive process improvement, organisational effectiveness, and service excellence through innovation and continuous improvement. 

  • Build collaborative partnerships with University stakeholders, industry partners, and external agencies to support the School's strategic objectives. 

  • Lead and develop the School's professional services team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and customer-focused culture.

Job Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor's degree; a postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education, or a related discipline is advantageous. 

  • At least 10–12 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, organisational development, administration, or operations, with 8 years in a leadership or managerial role. 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading organisation-wide strategic initiatives, change management, and cross-functional projects. 

  • Strong understanding of governance, financial planning, budgeting, and organisational performance management. 

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate strategy into execution. 

  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across diverse functions. 

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 

  • Experience in the higher education or public sector environment will be an advantage.
