The Role & What You Will Be Doing

The Head of Strategic Enablement and Sales Effectiveness is a senior leadership role within the UK Commercial Affiliate, responsible for driving strategic initiatives through data-driven insights and analytical excellence. This individual will lead the development and execution of strategies that leverage advanced data science to enable commercial growth, optimize decision-making, and strengthen competitive positioning. The Head of Strategic Enablement and Sales Effectiveness will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on key objectives and drive business transformation through data and Sales Effectiveness. The role will also act as support to the deployment of digital assets such as DTx by providing available Insights and partnering with the UK Healthcare Transformation Lead.

  • People and Leadership: Attract / develop / retain key talents within the Function. Continue to drive innovation and continuous improvement within Viatris through the team. As the go-to-market model evolves make sure that the organizational capabilities and structure fit the needs.
  • Strategic Enablement: Lead the design and execution of strategic initiatives that enhance commercial capabilities, improve market competitiveness, and drive business growth. Partner with senior leadership to develop go-to-market strategies and measure their impact, identify growth opportunities, and align resources with corporate goals.
  • Data Science and Advanced Analytics: Build and lead an analytics team focused on delivering predictive analytics and data insights that support commercial decision-making. Use data science and other methodologies to uncover trends, predict customer behavior, and drive targeted commercial actions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Support: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance and other departments to ensure data insights are leveraged across the organization. Enable data-driven decision-making by translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations and enhance organizational capability through empowering access to data, information or intelligence.
  • Commercial Optimization: Use data science and analytics to optimize commercial operations, including resource allocation, pricing strategies, and sales performance. Develop models and tools that support monitoring and adjustment of commercial tactics. Foster the deployment of adaptive strategies.
  • Market and Customer Insights: Generate insights into customer behavior, market dynamics, and competitive landscape. Utilize advanced analytics , visualization and immersion techniques to provide leadership with a comprehensive understanding of market opportunities and challenges.
  • Data Infrastructure and Strategy: Collaborate with Global/Regional teams to capitalize on and advance data infrastructure across the UK. Oversee the local implementation of all data infrastructure that supports data science capabilities. Define data governance standards, ensure data quality, and lead initiatives to enhance data accessibility and usability across the organization. The incumbent will partner with the Healthcare Transformation Team to support current and future DTx launches and enable strategies in these eco systems.
  • Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and incorporate emerging data science technologies and methods, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to improve commercial capabilities. Identify opportunities for automation and innovation that drive efficiency and value.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between the data science team and commercial functions, ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge-sharing and cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data analysts, and strategic enablers. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Compliance and Ethical Standards: Ensure all data science and strategic initiatives adhere to regulatory requirements, privacy standards, and ethical guidelines. Implement data privacy practices and maintain high standards of data security.
  • Commercial Strategy and Planning: Support the development of the commercial strategy, including forecasting, sales planning, and resource allocation. Collaborate with all business functions to ensure alignment to local and regional goals.
  • Sales Effectiveness Optimization: Design and implement sales enablement programs that enhance field productivity, optimize resource allocation, and maximize customer engagement. Drive initiatives around territory alignment, sales training, and performance tracking to boost overall sales effectiveness.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of KPIs to measure commercial performance and effectiveness. Create dashboards, reports, and presentations that provide actionable insights for executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Lead the implementation of global and regional central reporting tools and platforms and ensure that the local market act as a key contributor to the regional goals.

  • Extensive experience in the Healthcare / Pharmaceutical industry working across business and enabling functions.

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute strategies that align with business goals and drive commercial success.

  • Analytical Expertise: Proficiency in leveraging data to derive actionable insights and inform decision-making.

  • Sales Enablement: Deep understanding of sales processes, training, and enablement techniques to enhance field performance.

  • Project Management Excellence: Expertise in managing complex projects with cross-functional dependencies.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a commitment to developing and motivating high-performing teams.

  • Strong innovative mindset

  • Strong commercial business acumen, marketing and sales experience and broader healthcare business knowledge

  • Entrepreneurship mindset, accountability, agility, overcoming obstacles and focus on action and implementation.

Additional notes:

  • The position will from time to time require international travel to various Regional / Global meetings. • The position will require UK wide travel from time to time.
