About You

DEPT is seeking a Head of Organic Media who will be responsible for managing a team of Directors, Senior Directors, and track leads. This individual will oversee our SEO, Content, and Influencer teams. As the Head of Organic Media, you will be accountable for managing the organic media department’s client portfolio to meet revenue and margin goals. Additionally, you will lead, develop, and mentor your team, from entry-level employees to Directors and VPs. The Head of Organic Media will play a crucial role in leading internal process improvements and driving innovation in our ever-evolving industry.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Manage a core team of 5+ direct reports, including team leads for SEO, content, CRO, and influencer media.
  • Provide senior oversight on all accounts within the department, as applicable.
  • Ensure team profitability and work towards meeting revenue growth goals.
  • Conduct forecasting, resource planning, account allocation, and strategic hiring initiatives.
  • Represent the Organic Media department within the broader organization.
  • Drive key account growth with account leaders.
  • Promote innovation and product development to stay ahead of other agencies.
  • Support sales growth through SME representation for our services.
  • Contribute to marketing materials, including producing case studies, whitepapers, and blog posts.

QUALIFICATIONS   

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in organic media, managing teams across a wide range of skill sets.
  • Demonstrated experience working with enterprise-level clients and large-scale websites.
  • Proven track record of driving overall top-line growth at other agencies.
  • Deep understanding of SEO, including technical, content development, and influencer marketing.
  • Proven experience managing a team of direct reports and the ability to mentor and develop team members into more senior roles.
  • Experience with internal forecasting, P&L management, and resource management.
  • Background in working in fast-paced team environments, with the ability to explain problem-solving experiences when handling multiple top-priority initiatives.
  • Advanced analytics experience, with the ability to manage reporting regimens and support teams in developing their analytical skill set.

Leadership and Collaboration Skills:

  • Cross-department collaboration experience, working with Paid Media, UX, and Data & Analytics teams to create cohesive marketing strategies.
  • Experience in leading teams through organizational changes, including process improvements, restructuring, or new technology implementations.

Innovation and Strategic Thinking:

  • Ability to develop and implement a long-term vision for the Organic Media department, aligning it with the company’s overall goals.
  • Strong grasp of emerging trends in digital marketing, particularly in SEO, content strategy, and influencer marketing, and the ability to apply these trends to benefit clients.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Experience in high-level client-facing roles, with the ability to present strategies, results, and insights to executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to retain and grow key client relationships, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services.

Cultural Fit and Soft Skills:

  • Ability to contribute to and shape the company culture, promoting a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive work environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $200,000 - $275,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
