We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Risk Governance & Frameworks to take on a senior leadership role within our Integrated Risk function. Reporting to the Regional Head of Integrated Risk, this critical leadership role is responsible for strengthening and continuously enhancing Rabobank Australia and New Zealand's (RANZ) risk governance framework, risk management strategy and risk culture. 

This is a highly visible position that works across senior stakeholders and governance forums, including the Board, Executive Leadership Team and relevant regional and global partners, within a complex and globally matrixed environment. 

About the Role 

The role offers the opportunity to shape risk governance across Australia and New Zealand, support Board-level decision-making, lead enterprise-wide emerging risk assessment and develop a team of risk professionals. 

As Head of Risk Governance & Frameworks, you will lead the design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of enterprise-wide risk governance practices across Australia and New Zealand. You will connect business strategy, material and emerging risks, risk appetite and the Risk Management Framework to support informed decision-making and sustainable growth. 

You will provide oversight and challenge across the organisation's risk management activities while fostering a strong risk culture that enables informed decision-making and sustainable growth. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Leading the development and maintenance of the Risk Management Strategy, Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement across Australia and New Zealand. 

  • Managing the annual Risk Management Declaration process and supporting Board assessment of framework effectiveness. 

  • Leading the enterprise-wide emerging risk assessment process and providing forward-looking risk insights to senior management and the Board. 

  • Maintaining effective governance arrangements across Board and management risk committees. 

  • Overseeing risk governance policies, standards and related frameworks to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness. 

  • Supporting compliance with prudential and regulatory requirements, including APRA Prudential Standard CPS 220 and relevant New Zealand regulatory obligations. 

  • Providing trusted advisory support to business leaders on risk governance, risk appetite and strategic risk matters. 

  • Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing Risk Governance & Frameworks team. 

  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, governance forums, auditors and relevant external parties. 

About You 

You are a seasoned risk professional with extensive experience operating within complex banking environments. You combine strategic thinking with strong governance expertise and are confident engaging with senior executives, Board members and regulators. 

To be successful, you will bring: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Law or a related discipline. 

  • Extensive senior experience in banking and risk management, including exposure to enterprise-wide risk governance and frameworks. 

  • Demonstrated success leading risk governance, policy and framework activities in a regulated financial services environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management, governance structures and banking risk disciplines. 

  • Sound understanding of Australian and New Zealand prudential and regulatory requirements. 

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capabilities. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex issues clearly and succinctly. 

  • Proven people leadership experience, including developing and coaching high-performing teams. 

  • Experience working within a large, complex and globally matrixed organisation would be highly regarded. 

  • Knowledge of food and agribusiness sectors is advantageous.
