Location: Remote (Supporting Portugal timezone)

UMAI is a fast-growing F&B technology company that helps restaurants save time and increase revenue by automating manual processes, reducing last-minute cancellations, enabling smarter upselling, and delivering more personalized customer experiences.

Our founding team brings extensive experience in building and scaling internet companies across the Asia Pacific region. UMAI was founded by the former Managing Director of Foodpanda Singapore and a founding team member of Nova Founders Capital, a fintech-focused venture capital firm based in London and Hong Kong.

As we scale globally, we are building a strong recruitment engine to attract and retain top talent across tech and non-tech roles.

The Role

As Head of Recruitment, your mission is simple but critical: ensure UMAI has the right people, in the right roles, at the right time to drive our growth. You will lead a team of at least three recruiters and oversee the end-to-end hiring process for multiple roles across tech and non-tech functions.

This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role where you combine strategic thinking with execution, build strong talent pipelines, and shape UMAI’s recruitment culture globally.

What You’ll Do

First and foremost, your main responsibility is to ensure the headcount for UMAI’s growth. Your mission is to scout talent worldwide to grow our team and to retain our existing talent within UMAI.

1. You will follow all the steps of UMAI’s recruitment process:

  • You will determine current staffing needs and produce forecasts
  • You will make job descriptions
  • You will source for candidates on LinkedIn, Facebook + other platforms and screen their CVs
  • You will handle interviews and fill in scorecards about your candidates.
  • You will own recruitment projects: e.g. you’ll identify where to source for a role and build your international recruiting pipeline
  • You will onboard new employees into the UMAI family, from contract preparation to their first weeks with us

2. You will be responsible for preparing documentation (employment contracts, reference letters, guides)

3. You will be involved in the art & science of employer branding:

You will enhance UMAI’s external brand through job portals, social media and by attending or organizing career fairs and other events. You will take steps to ensure that every new UMAI team member has a positive starting experience

4. You will support and improve UMAI’s internal brand, by making sure that each member of UMAI’s team and candidates understand and love our values and work environment. Meaning that you will assist in and suggest measures in regards of employee retention and development.

Your Profile

  • Needs at least 5 years of experience within Talent Acquisition preferably in KPI-driven, high-growth environments.
  • Proven experience in full-cycle recruiting, talent sourcing, and employment branding
  • Hands-on experience managing and leading a small recruitment team. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple roles and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
  • Passion for scaling teams internationally
  • Comfortable with proactive outreach and candidate engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple roles simultaneously.
  • Results-driven, resilient, and comfortable working under pressure.
  • A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
