Your role at C12 Quantum Electronics
- As Head of Qubit Control, reporting directly to the CTO, you will lead and grow a team of quantum physicists, from junior level to recognised experts, responsible for the performance of C12’s quantum operations. You will lead the expansion of the team that is expected to become one of the largest teams within the company. The team’s work focuses on the control and readout of 1- and 2-qubit gates on small- and large-scale chips, including optimisation of control and readout electronics, efficient exploration, tuning, and optimisation of large parameter spaces, and experimental investigation of the underlying physics. The quantum chips operate at low temperatures in cryostats hosted in our cryolab, equipped with state-of-the-art high-frequency microwave control electronics. Your role is to enable excellence in qubit control, measurement, and calibration by structuring execution, aligning priorities, and supporting technical decision-making, while relying on deep expertise within the team and working closely with leadership to deliver results aligned with the company’s R&D roadmap.
- Growing and recruiting key talents, mainly research scientists from junior level to experts.
- Fostering and maintaining high standards for project management within the team, acting as a coordinator and enabler when needed, while day-to-day execution and ownership are led by team members, with arbitration support from the CTO when deeper technical decisions are required.
- Defining the team OKRs under the guidance of the CTO and the R&D Operations Lead, and own their delivery.
- Ensuring strong collaboration across teams, in particular with the software and theory teams.
- Maintaining a high level of experimental operations, in close collaboration with the support team, ensuring infrastructure reliability, and efficient lab usage
About you:
- You have at least 5 years of experience leading technical or research teams composed of highly skilled members with diverse technical backgrounds
- You have a background in physics, quantum physics, or electrical engineering or in a related field; a PhD is considered an advantage but not mandatory
- You bring multidisciplinary experience, in particular strong exposure to data analysis and/or software-driven workflows
- You demonstrate strong organisational, communication, and prioritisation skills, enabling effective coordination across teams and expertise levels.

What We Do
C12 is building reliable quantum computers.
The company is a spin-off from ENS launched in January 2020 by twin brothers Matthieu and Pierre Desjardins to supercharge the development of the lab’s promising new quantum technology.
Quantum computing has the potential to change our lives. But frequent errors limit the technology’s viability. We are tackling the fundamental issue: the nature of the hardware itself. We are tapping into the simplest material–carbon–to drive a technological breakthrough in the field. Unlike other quantum computers, we use carbon nanotubes as the fundamental building block of our processor. By combining the power of an ultra-pure material with an easy-to-manufacture semiconductor device, we are building a scalable platform for quantum computing.
Our executive co-founders bring a unique combination of scientific excellence and business skills to the company. Our team is made up of the world’s most accomplished experts in quantum electronics and carbon nanotube science. Our scientific advisors are renowned scientists and pioneers in spin qubits: Dr. Takis Kontos, Dr. Matthieu Delbecq and Dr. Jérémie Viennot.
In June 2021, C12 secured a $10 million seed round with funding from 360 Capital, Bpifrance (Digital Venture Fund), Airbus Ventures, BNP Paribas Développement, and Octave Klaba (OVHcloud), and additional grants from Bpifrance and the Ile-de-France Region.
We are leading quantum’s next material breakthrough, and we are just getting started. Silicon enabled the emergence of classical computing – it’s time for carbon to do the same for quantum !
