Roadrunner Venture Studios, a leading venture studio for deep tech innovation, has been selected by the New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) to lead a $25 million initiative to accelerate quantum innovation and company-creation in the state of New Mexico.
The Roadrunner-led Coalition will bring together premier quantum researchers, investors and founders to create a quantum campus in Downtown Albuquerque’s Innovation District. The quantum venture studio campus will feature a multi-node quantum network, dilution refrigerators, a quantum testbed, quantum packaging and demonstration facilities, and a rapid prototyping center. The campus will co-locate the packaging facility from the Elevate Quantum Tech Hub and serve as the headquarters for the Quantum New Mexico Institute. Roadrunner is making the quantum hub the most important six block radius for quantum innovation in the country. Our vision is to fuel the next generation of quantum companies.

As the Head of Quantum Innovation you will identify the right problems to solve, bring the right people together, and move quickly to build breakthrough companies. Quantum is too fragmented for a single founder to succeed alone — physics, engineering, fabrication, software, and market strategy must advance in sync. This role is the orchestrator that ensures those disciplines don’t stay in silos but move as one team toward real breakthroughs.
In this ~12 month assignment, you will lead the creation of a bespoke, state-of-the-art quantum lab and turn it into the launchpad for multiple quantum ventures. From defining equipment specifications to shaping how teams operate within the space, you’ll design the environment where ideas transform into market-ready technologies. In this role, you will also drive two proven venture-building models. The first is idea-led, where you identify opportunities that align technical potential with market demand and then assemble the right team to pursue them. The second is talent-led, where you support world-class founders and build new startups around their strengths and vision. In both approaches, your responsibility will be to set the direction for what gets built, define the talent profile and secure top hires, and align technical, commercial, and market goals from day one.
