Truck Stops (NZ) LtdBased in Wiri and reporting directly to the General Manager Commercial Aftersales, the Head of Product is a critical senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and profitability of a significant Commercial Aftersales portfolio.
Leading Category Management and Purchasing functions, this role has accountability for a $60 million inventory portfolio spanning truck, trailer, and fleet components sourced from both global manufacturers and local suppliers. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future growth, competitiveness, and operational excellence of the business.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished commercial leader to influence strategy at an enterprise level while driving performance across sourcing, supplier partnerships, inventory optimisation, and product lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and deliver the long-term Commercial Aftersales product and category strategy aligned to business objectives
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Category Management and
- Purchasing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Drive portfolio growth, profitability, and competitive market positioning
- Build and manage executive-level OEM and key supplier relationships, including leading complex negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives
- Oversee $60M inventory performance and availability, leveraging market insights and cross-functional alignment (Sales, Service, Operations, Finance) to meet demand and identify growth opportunities
About You
We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute senior leader with a strong track record in product, category, or procurement leadership within automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy transport, industrial, or aftermarket environments.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- 10+ years’ experience leading large, high-performing commercial or product teams at a senior level
- Proven track record of delivering profitable growth, category performance improvements, and inventory optimisation
- Strong strategic capability combined with hands-on operational leadership and commercial accountability
- Extensive experience managing senior supplier relationships and leading complex negotiations across local and global markets
- Highly developed financial, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with a leadership style that drives capability, accountability, and high performance
