About Matter Intelligence

Welcome to Matter, where we are building the future of vision AI: pairing a world-first sensor that sees molecular chemistry, temperature, and 3D shape with a Large World Model that will be the most powerful intelligence engine for the physical world. This system doesn't just see what something looks like; it understands everything from a single pixel. We call this Superintelligent Vision.

Our team has delivered technologies to Mars for NASA/JPL, designed advanced sensors for U.S. Defense, and built core infrastructure at OpenAI. We are now building the next generation of space- and airborne-based sensing systems.

About the Role

Matter is hiring a Head of Product and Deployment to translate customer needs and company strategy into a clear product roadmap and reliable deployments. This leader will connect customers, commercial teams, product, engineering, and operations as Matter moves from pilots to repeatable intelligence products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own product strategy and maintain a roadmap that reflects customer priorities, technical readiness, and company objectives.

  • Turn customer problems and field feedback into clear product requirements and prioritization decisions.

  • Define deployment plans, readiness criteria, and operating handoffs for customer pilots and production programs.

  • Coordinate across commercial, engineering, data, and operations teams to resolve tradeoffs and keep delivery on track.

  • Create a disciplined feedback loop that measures product performance and informs the next iteration.

QualificationsRequired
  • Experience leading product development and delivery for technically complex products or services.

  • Ability to translate customer workflows into clear requirements, priorities, and execution plans.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Comfort operating in an early-stage environment with evolving products and incomplete information.

Preferred
  • Experience with enterprise, industrial, geospatial, aerospace, or data products.

  • Experience taking pilot programs into repeatable operational deployments.

  • Familiarity with products that combine hardware, data pipelines, analytics, and software interfaces.

What Success Looks Like
  • The company has a clear, prioritized roadmap tied to customer outcomes and technical milestones.

  • Deployments move from planning to operation with explicit owners, readiness criteria, and feedback loops.

  • Customer learning is captured consistently and translated into product decisions.

Location

This role is based in San Francisco, CA, and requires onsite work.
