The Team

The Head of Product, is part of a passionate team working collaboratively with the Heads of Product for Hirer and Candidate Product teams, Design and Analytics; the Product Director, the Product Strategy Managers and other key stakeholders across Strategy, Data Science, Commercial, Engineering and Sales to identify and execute on new initiatives. You will work closely with the Design and Engineering teams to develop effective, customer-focused solutions. Your role involves supporting quality design outputs like UX designs, research, and user testing, and ensuring seamless collaboration for efficient delivery.

Initially this role will be an Individual Contributor, partnering with Commerical and Design.  The expectation is that this role will hire and build a team as we shape up and resource Adjacent busines opportunities. 

About the Role

The Head of Product - Adjacency Development is responsible for identifying, defining, and building new adjacent business opportunities in partnership with commercial teams. This role requires a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset to explore and grow large adjacent businesses alongside SEEK’s core offerings.

As the leader of a high-impact strategic initiative, the role will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of adjacent opportunities, from scoping and business case creation to establishing and scaling product teams to achieve ambitious business outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional partners across technology, design, and commercial to deliver transformative results.

Key Responsibilities

Specifically, the Head of Product:

• Drives Strategic Adjacencies: Works closely with commercial and strategy teams to identify and prioritize adjacent business opportunities, developing business cases that balance customer needs, market potential, and strategic importance for SEEK.
• Builds and Leads Product Teams: Hires and establishes high-performing product teams to support the development and growth of identified adjacencies, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Leads Growth of Adjacencies: Focuses on achieving measurable business outcomes for adjacent initiatives, ensuring alignment with SEEK's overarching goals and delivering results in partnership with commercial, technology, and design teams.
• Cross functional execution: Takes a collaborative approach with commercial, technology, and design partners to shape and execute the vision for each initiative.
• Delivers Exceptional User Experiences: Focuses on delivering innovative, world-class products that solve real customer problems and integrate seamlessly into SEEK's ecosystem, leveraging cutting-edge technology and design.
• Understands the Market and Customers: Applies deep knowledge of customer needs, both stated and unstated, as well as industry trends, competitor dynamics, and market opportunities, to inform decision-making and prioritize product investments.
• Collaborates Cross-Functionally: Partners with other SEEK product teams to ensure adjacencies enhance and complement SEEK's core hirer and candidate experiences.
• Champions Bold Product Goals: Establishes bold and inspiring OKRs for adjacent initiatives, driving the product teams to deliver innovative solutions and measurable outcomes.
• Coaches and Develops Talent: Directly leads and builds the capability of a team of talented Product Managers, fostering their growth and development to achieve SEEK's ambitious goals.
• Leverages Data and Metrics: Confidently navigates measures of product performance within SEEK and the external market, identifying actionable insights and driving effective decisions.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• A background with experience in B2B and/or B2C product management and a passion for it
• Considerable experience in online or software product development, including solid understanding of the agile software development lifecycle
• Customer centric in your approach with a strong capacity to understand market and strategic drivers to set clear goals and define problem statements
• A good understanding of how to architect product to best fit technical solutions for future extensibility and outcome delivery.
• Proven ability to solve complex and detailed problems using an analytical and data driven approach – strong judgement and decision-making capability
• A track record of strong commercial thinking and judgement

• Experience in building product teams in start ups and scaling start ups.
• Ability to maintain and set a product roadmap while managing competing priorities from multiple stakeholders
• Ability to directly lead a multi-disciplinary team and build team capability
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes
• A high-level strategic thinker able to dip into the detail when necessary
• Excellent prioritisation skills
• Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade, build and maintain relationships
