We are seeking a forward-thinking Process Engineering Manager to lead the development, sustainability, and continuous improvement of semiconductor laser fabrication processes. In this role, you will focus on sustaining production, enhancing process efficiency, and optimizing production yields. Sustaining production and continuous improvement are central to this role, and the ideal candidate will have a strong track record of problem solving and driving long-term process improvements.

Head of Process Engineering Duties & Responsibilities

  • Production support: Support the production shopfloor to ensure down time due to process issues is maintained to a minimum
  • Process Development & Optimization: Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of semiconductor fabrication processes (e.g., photolithography, etching, deposition, etc.) to enhance product yield, quality, and efficiency. Ensure that processes minimize waste, energy consumption, and environmental impact. Ensure production processes meet industry standards, safety regulations, and sustainability objectives
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data-driven methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean to reduce defects, improve process stability, and boost manufacturing performance. Foster a culture of innovation and ongoing enhancement within the engineering team
  • New Equipment Specification: Research, evaluate, and specify new process equipment to ensure alignment with production needs, quality standards, and future technology requirements
  • Process Documentation & Compliance: Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, ensuring full compliance with EHS standards, industry regulations, and internal quality requirements
  • Troubleshooting: Lead efforts to identify, diagnose, and resolve process-related issues that impact production quality, yield, or efficiency
  • Training & Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the process engineering team, promoting a focus on sustainability and continuous improvement in day-to-day operations
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate process developments and improvement plans with stakeholders, ensuring alignment on goals and project timelines

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in semiconductor process engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role
  • Strong technical expertise in semiconductor fabrication processes, including photolithography, etching, deposition, and other related areas
  • Proven experience in developing, optimizing, and maintaining complex semiconductor fabrication processes
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), quality management systems (QMS), and process control methodologies
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple process improvement projects simultaneously
  • Experience with capital equipment specification, procurement, and installation
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Experience with automation technologies and advanced semiconductor processing tools
