The opportunity: 

AIA has a newly created opportunity available for a Head of Partnerships to join their Group Insurance business in either Melbourne or Sydney. Within this role you will lead the strategic direction and execution across AIA’s existing Group Partner portfolio, shaping partner strategies within the Group Insurance channel. This includes ownership of risk assessment, product and pricing evaluation, and claims experience analysis, alongside the development of robust frameworks to assess how effectively members’ insurance needs are met. 

Furthermore, you will drive strategic insights that influence partner decisions on Funds Under Management (FUM), insurance engagement within superannuation and future product design, while leading initiatives to strengthen client retention and long-term value creation. 

To do this successfully you will: 

  • Be accountable for the delivery of all Group Partnership tender commitments, with a strong focus on enhancing member outcomes, uplifting customer experience and accelerating digital integration with AIA. 

  • Own and lead senior partner relationships, building deep, trust-based engagement that supports commercial outcomes and strategic alignment. 

  • Provide strong leadership to the Group Partnerships team, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, capability development, and clear strategic direction. 

  • Drive and lead the pricing strategy for existing Group Partners including driving the optimal profitable, strategic and innovative pricing solutions that will allow the business to retain and win insurance business. 

  • Own the relationship with the group partners to develop and implement the tender commitments and build out strategies with our group superannuation funds.  

  • Ensure that a robust risk management, governance and compliance framework, including delegated authorities and other relevant internal controls, is in place within the team.

  • Lead, recruit, develop, retain and manage the team, including providing professional guidance, ensuring the team members can confidently engage with clients regularly and with high-quality work and ensuring the team is highly engaged 

 

Successful applications will demonstrate: 

  • Previous life insurance experience, particularly working within Group Insurance

  • Superannuation experience would be highly desirable  

  • Experience with key sign-off meetings with C-Suite 

  • An in depth understanding of the key drivers of Group Insurance business and of products in this area

  • A sound understanding of actuarial concepts, capital, profit and value measures  

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills  

  • Proven leadership expertise with the ability to motivate employees and provide constructive feedback  

  • The ability to exercise a high level of professional judgment  

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal  

  • Negotiation and influencing capability  

  • Strong commercial awareness  

  • Understanding of performance targets and measures  

  • Project management and change management experience would be preferred 

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the influence of environmental factors on risk assessment
