What's on the Menu:
The Europe & Pacific Developed Markets (EPDM) Head of Packaging Regulatory is a newly created role which will lead packaging regulatory compliance across EPDM markets (with an initial focus on EU & UK), with a Centre of Excellence role to share knowledge and insights across other zones. This is a critical senior role with opportunity for growth to develop a right size and fit for purpose Packaging Regulatory capability across Kraft Heinz' International markets.
The role will be based in either Amsterdam or our R&D Centre in Nijmegen, Netherlands, reporting into the Global Chief Counsel, Growth and International Regulatory, with a dotted line to the International Head of Packaging R&D. The role will sit within Kraft Heinz' legal function, which includes legal, government affairs, regulatory, ethics & compliance and communications professionals.
Key Ingredients:
- Develop & implement effective packaging regulatory compliance across the EU and UK, including on EU wide legislation (e.g PPWR) and UK and EU member state national regulation.
- Build a central vision and strategy for the EU & UK in this space, based on three central pillars: (i) strong regulatory compliance, (ii) regulatory horizon scanning and (iii) external influence and regulatory/legislative advocacy. Build foundations of repeatable model for impact/implementation across other International zones.
- Work cross functionally with colleagues in Legal, Government Affairs, R&D, FSQ, labelling & marketing, to build capabilities, processes & structures to facilitate and enable effective horizon scanning methodologies, impact assessments of relevant legislative change, and compliance.
- Partner with Head of Pack R&D and EPDM Growth to understand strategic growth priorities, to identify and mitigate potential packaging regulatory road blocks and exploit opportunities to gain competitive advantage.
- Monitor emerging packaging regulatory trends and developments and advise leadership on potential impacts to the company. Build comprehensive and strategic horizon scanning capability for EU & UK to identify risks and opportunities, ensure business continuity and mitigate where appropriate.
- Act as Centre of Excellence for International regulatory & R&D teams across ANZ, WEEM & AEM markets to share learnings, best practice and insights.
- Collaborate closely with Packaging Regulatory specialists in North America to ensure global knowledge sharing, alignment and consistency.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key regulatory agencies and industry associations and together with other functions, build and be part of an advocacy strategy to influence, enable and unlock areas of impact for Kraft Heinz.
Recipe for Success: Apply if it sounds like you
- Degree level or above in relevant legal or technical subject matter
- Minimum 10+ years of regulatory affairs experience and significant practical expertise and experience in packaging regulatory in an international business, ideally in CPG, or within a specialist packaging consultancy company.
- Experience of people management and building teams
- Extensive experience of collaborating with, advising and influencing cross functional senior stakeholders, external partners, trade associations and government bodies. Established network of relationships with key trade & regulatory bodies.
- Proven track record of successfully navigating the complexities of multi-jurisdictional regulations and compliance, of working in the grey on nascent and developing legislation and making risk based, nuanced recommendations and decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with ability to distill and explain complex issues concisely and clearly.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects and challenges simultaneously Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including demonstrable experience of developing and applying robust and consistent risk management processes
