As Head of Marketplace, you’ll own the marketplace operating system that connects site-level conditions to commercial action. You’ll sit at the intersection of Commercial, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Finance, with responsibility for understanding what is happening across the network — by site, by cohort, and by metro — and turning those insights into better decisions.
This role is for a highly quantitative operator with strong marketplace judgment. You’ll help Zipline grow healthy marketplaces by improving how we read performance, deploy levers, shape demand, protect customer experience, and scale what works. You should be equally comfortable going deep on utilization, fulfillment constraints, pricing, promotions, and selection strategy as you are driving cross-functional action with senior stakeholders.
This role will be based at our HQ in South San Francisco.
What You'll Do- Marketplace performance and business metrics. Own the marketplace performance framework at a highly granular site level, including the core business, customer and operational metrics that define marketplace health, growth, efficiency, AOV, and customer outcomes. Ensure that each site grows to it’s fullest extent to hit our targets. Partner with analytics team to continually refine the quality of dashboards and supporting analyses.
- Site-level marketplace readouts. Build and run the daily and weekly operating rhythm for understanding capacity, utilization, throttling, fulfillment constraints, and overall marketplace conditions by site. Always have the answer to ‘what is going on with [site]?
- Marketplace levers. Define and influence the levers that improve marketplace performance, including site prioritization, partner prioritization, pricing, promotions and budget allocation recommendations, demand shaping, CX protection, and other supply-demand balancing actions. Act as the business advisor to the Head of Commercial for each Metro.
- Operations capacity management. Work closely with Ops and Utilization to understand aircraft availability, fulfillment throughput, and operational bottlenecks, and help ensure growth plans align with real delivery capacity and service quality.
- Product, CX, and partner inputs. Serve as a key voice of the marketplace for Product teams by connecting the dots between site & business level performance and product needs and gaps.
- Selection strategy and territory prioritization. Ensure that scarce sales resources are deployed for growth in the highest and best usage.
- Site cohorting and scaled programs. Develop frameworks for grouping sites with similar marketplace dynamics so Zipline can deploy common marketing actions, product rollouts, operational playbooks, and promotions more effectively at scale.
- Cross-functional leadership. Tighten the feedback loop between operational reality and growth action by working across Commercial, Ops, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Utilization to improve marketplace performance at scale. Always have the answers to ‘what site is best for ____?’
