Genspark is looking for a Head of Marketing to lead our market expansion in Japan. You'll own the full marketing strategy for Japan—from building brand awareness to driving product adoption—while managing a team of 4 marketing professionals in Tokyo.

This is a true general manager role where you'll shape how Genspark shows up in Japan. We’re especially interested in someone who has led integrated campaigns across traditional media, digital, social, influencer, paid media, and OOH. You'll develop our go-to-market strategy, localize our brand for Japanese audiences, and build the marketing engine that drives our growth in one of the world's most sophisticated markets.

What You'll Do
Market Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute Japan's full-funnel marketing strategy 
  • Localize Genspark's brand positioning and product narrative for Japanese audiences
  • Set marketing goals and priorities for the Japan market
  • Identify opportunities and adapt strategies based on the local competitive landscape
Go-to-Market Execution
  • Lead product launches and major marketing campaigns
  • Integrated campaign planning and execution across traditional, digital, social, influencer, paid, and OOH channels
  • Brand localization for Japanese audiences through culturally relevant messaging, content, and creative
  • Manage relationships with key external partners (PR agencies, media, strategic partners)
  • Allocate budget and resources across marketing initiatives
Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor a team of 4 marketing professionals covering brand, content, events, and partnerships
  • Build team capabilities and foster a high-performance culture
  • Collaborate closely with Global marketing leadership and cross-functional global teams
Performance & Operations
  • Track marketing performance and ROI across channels and campaigns
  • Report on Japan market progress to leadership
  • Build marketing processes and systems that scale with the business

What You'll Bring
  • 8-12 years of marketing experience with at least 3-5 years in leadership roles, managing teams
  • Full-funnel marketing expertise: Track record building brands AND driving product adoption in Japan
  • Japan market expertise: Deep understanding of Japanese consumer behavior, media landscape, and business culture
  • Localization skills: Proven ability to connect media, content, branding, localization, and performance into one cohesive strategy
  • Startup mindset: Experience at fast-growing tech companies—you're comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch, while also being strategic
  • Team leadership: Experience managing, developing, and inspiring marketing teams
  • Cross-cultural collaboration: Ability to work effectively with global teams across time zones and cultures
  • Strategic + execution-oriented: You set the vision but also ensure things get done
  • Fluent in Japanese and English: Proficiency in Japanese; business-level English for Global team collaboration
  • Budget management: Experience managing significant marketing budgets

  • A strong network across Japanese media, creators/influencers, and platform partners
  • Experience localizing global campaigns for Japan beyond translation
  • Experience at B2B SaaS or productivity tool companies (Notion, Slack, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Understanding of product-led growth (PLG) strategies
  • Experience launching US tech products in Japan market
  • Strong relationships in the Japanese tech media, influencer, or partnership ecosystem
  • Experience working at both large tech companies and startups
  • Familiarity with AI products or developer tools
