The Head of Legal Department is responsible
for overseeing all legal matters within the organization, ensuring compliance
with regulatory requirements, mitigating legal risks, and providing strategic
legal guidance. This role involves contract management, dispute resolution,
corporate governance, and ensuring adherence to industry-specific laws in the
automobile sector.
Legal Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international
automotive laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in legal and regulatory frameworks affecting
the automobile industry.
- Develop risk management strategies to minimize legal exposure.
- Handle regulatory compliance issues related to vehicle safety,
labor laws, and intellectual property.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, dealers,
distributors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that all contractual agreements align with corporate
policies and legal requirements.
- Manage legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and joint
ventures.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation
- Represent the company in legal disputes, arbitration, and
court proceedings.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel when needed.
- Handle product liability claims, warranty disputes, and
intellectual property rights issues.
Corporate Governance & Ethics
- Ensure corporate governance policies are in place and adhered
to.
- Advise senior management and the board of directors on legal
matters.
- Implement ethical compliance programs and training for
employees.
Intellectual Property &
Regulatory Affairs
- Protect the company’s trademarks, patents, and proprietary
technology.
- Oversee legal compliance for product safety standards and
environmental regulations.
- Ensure adherence to automotive industry-specific compliance
such as emissions standards, manufacturing laws, and import/export
regulations.
Employment & Labor Law Compliance
- Provide legal guidance on employment contracts, labor disputes,
and workplace policies.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, employee rights, and
workplace safety regulations.
- Handle legal matters related to employee terminations,
grievances, and workplace ethics.
Requirements
- LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws)
degree; LL.M. or MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10-15 years
of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role preferably
in the automobile or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of
corporate law, labor law, contract law, intellectual property, and
regulatory requirements in the automotive sector.
- Negotiation,
problem-solving, leadership, risk assessment, and excellent communication
skills.
- Membership in a
recognized bar association or legal body.

Skills Required
