Purpose
•    Providing, and overseeing the provision of, exceptional legal services to our London Branch and French subsidiary operations and continue to deepen the integration between the UK, European and offshore locations 
•    Identifying and proactively managing legal, regulatory and reputational risks (including providing recommendations for simplification, enhancements and delivering change where required).
•    Building strong relationships with the Corporate & Institutional Bank business through the provision of legal excellence and strategic advice (particularly on regulatory matters) at appropriate leadership forums (including the London and Paris Risk Leadership team).

Key Decisions
•    Decisions related to team composition, structure and priorities
•    Sign-off/approval in relation to legal risk matters, legal documentation, and legal advice prepared for and provided to the London and Paris business and operations of Corporate & Institutional Banking.

Key Interfaces
•    Member of the International Legal Leadership Team and European Leadership Team
•    May also be required to join selected C&IB business risk forums or other NAB Group domain teams
•    UK and European panel firm relationship management responsibilities

Experience
•    Experience providing UK/European based financial institutions with legal and regulatory advice
•    Experience leading a cross-disciplinary legal team that is talented, efficient, successful and diverse
•    Proven ability to provide strategic advice on regulatory changes, growth pathways and other projects and initiatives
•    In-house trusted advisor to relevant business and risk leadership teams

Qualification Requirements
•    Practising lawyer with 10+ years PQE

Key Accountabilities

•    Provides legal and regulatory insights and strategic advice in relation to end-to-end matters for Corporate & Institutional Banking 
•     Translates the strategy of the Corporate & Institutional Bank into functional effectiveness for the London   Branch Legal team
•     Champions and role models the “Who We Are” behaviours of taking ownership, moving with speed, keeping it simple, winning together and being customer obsessed.
•    Individual contribution to legal matters in relation to areas with the scope of the responsibilities of the team
•     Acts as delegate for PGH, Markets and International Legal when required
