Niural is revolutionizing global workforce management with an AI-powered platform that unifies Global Payroll, US Payroll & PEO, Global EOR, Contractor Management, and Global Payments into a single, seamless platform. We help companies hire, pay, and manage teams across 150+ countries without compromising compliance — simplifying payroll, compliance, and global workforce operations. As we scale rapidly, we’re building the legal foundation that enables responsible global growth.
About the RoleWe’re seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Legal & Compliance to lead and scale Niural’s legal, regulatory, and compliance functions. This role will shape the legal infrastructure of a fast-growing Series A startup operating in a complex global regulatory environment — including US PEO, global payroll, EOR, contractor compliance, tax, and benefits across multiple jurisdictions. You’ll partner closely with the leadership team, influence product strategy through a compliance lens, and build a world-class legal and compliance organization as we expand.
This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in high-growth environments, can balance risk with innovation, and has deep subject-matter expertise in employment law, regulatory compliance, contracts, and global operations.
ResponsibilitiesLegal Strategy & Leadership
Lead Niural’s legal and compliance strategy, ensuring legal risk is identified, communicated, and mitigated across the business.
Build and scale the legal and compliance organization — hiring, mentoring, and developing top talent across jurisdictions.
Act as trusted legal advisor to executive leadership and cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Sales, Finance, People & Operations).
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Develop and maintain a robust compliance framework across US federal/state employment law, global labor regulations, tax, data privacy, AML/KYC, and fintech/payroll regulatory requirements.
Monitor, interpret, and implement changes to relevant global laws and regulations affecting Niural’s products and services (e.g., payroll, EOR, PEO, contractor compliance).
Partner with product and engineering teams to embed compliance and legal guardrails into platform design and features.
Contracts & Commercial Legal Support
Own negotiation, drafting, and management of key commercial contracts, vendor agreements, customer terms, strategic partnerships, data processing agreements, and more.
Advise on legal aspects of enterprise deals, pricing models, channel partnerships, integrations, and service terms.
Compliance Operations & Controls
Establish compliance governance, policies, and procedures across Legal, HR, Finance, Sales, and Operations.
Lead internal compliance monitoring, audits, risk assessments, and remediation programs.
Design, deliver, and oversee compliance training for employees and leadership.
External Relationships & Licensing
Manage relationships with external counsel, regulators, auditors, and industry bodies.
Support licensing, registrations, and regulatory engagement in key markets and verticals.
You’ll thrive in this role if:
You have 5+ years of legal experience (in-house and/or law firm) with significant exposure to labor/employment law, compliance, fintech/payroll services, and commercial contracting.
You have a track record building or scaling legal and compliance programs at high-growth technology or workforce-services startups.
You can translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into pragmatic business solutions without slowing growth.
You are energized by ambiguity and excited to build frameworks and best practices from scratch.
You have exceptional communication skills and can partner with technical and business teams effectively.
You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-border business with global regulatory challenges.
Experience with global EOR/PEO platforms, payroll technology, HR tech, or workforce compliance.
Background in data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), fintech payments regulation, or employment tax compliance.
Prior startup experience, especially in Series A/B hyper-growth environments.
At Niural, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the future of global workforce compliance and legal infrastructure — working alongside a passionate leadership team during a pivotal growth phase. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, flexible time off, and a culture that values impact, autonomy, and innovation.
