Your role

You'll be part of our Innovation & Digital Solutions team, a market-leading group focused on helping Allens and our clients work in smarter, more innovative and digitally enabled ways. The team partners closely with our legal practices, corporate services teams and clients to identify opportunities for innovation, digital transformation and the effective adoption of AI to transform legal service delivery.

As Head of Innovation & Digital Capability, you will lead Allens' Innovation & Digital Capability team and play a key role in developing and delivering projects that support the strategic objectives of the group and the firm's broader innovation and digital transformation ambitions.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with practice group stakeholders and corporate services teams to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, digital transformation and AI adoption aligned with practice and firm strategy.

  • Lead the vision, strategy and goals for the Innovation & Digital Capability function, with a focus on driving the adoption of legal practice efficiency solutions.

  • Manage Allens' AI Champions and Digital & AI Partner network to drive new ways of working, surface opportunities across practices and increase adoption of digital solutions.

  • Contribute to shaping and executing the firm's AI strategy and broader digital transformation agenda, including engaging with clients and the broader market.

  • Develop and drive change management strategies to support awareness, deployment and adoption of digital and AI solutions across legal practices.

  • Lead and coach a high-performing team of innovators and change agents, supporting capability uplift, performance, engagement and delivery across key initiatives.

  • Design and lead legal operations and transformation engagements with clients, including scoping requirements, developing work programs and delivering services in line with scope and budget.

  • Build Allens' innovation brand through thought leadership, external profiling, industry engagement, client  campaigns and market-facing initiatives.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. At Allens we have a hybrid working structure, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home. We would be happy to discuss any other flexible working arrangements that best support you.

About you

You will have:

  • Extensive experience in legal operations, innovation, digital transformation, legal technology and AI adoption, preferably in a professional services environment.

  • A strong track record leading strategic programs, projects and change initiatives across complex stakeholder groups.

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders, including partners, practice leaders, corporate services leaders, clients, vendors and industry partners.

  • Commercial acumen and the ability to assess opportunities, measure impact, report on return on investment and translate strategy into practical delivery.

  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience building, coaching and managing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to act as a trusted advisor and promote new ways of working across the firm and with clients.

  • A collaborative mindset, curiosity and enthusiasm for innovation, technology and the future of legal service delivery.

  • A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others
