Head of Group Compliance Audit & Speak-Up Programs

At Bavarian Nordic, we are committed to saving and improving lives by unlocking the power of the immune system. Our commercial product portfolio includes market-leading vaccines against smallpox, mpox, rabies, tick-borne encephalitis, typhoid fever, and cholera. We excel in R&D innovation, manufacturing, and commercialization, striving to improve people’s health and quality of life worldwide, protecting our tomorrow.

We are seeking a Head of Group Compliance Audit & Speak-Up Programs who will take ownership of key global compliance programs in a regulated, international environment: our Group Compliance Audit Program and our Group Speak-Up Program. This includes driving governance, strategy, implementation, training, monitoring, reporting, investigations, and continuous improvement across regions, entities, and corporate functions.

The role is an individual contributor role, located at our headquarters in Hellerup and reports to the Head of Group Compliance. You will join the Legal & Compliance team and work closely with Group Legal, Regional Legal & Compliance, Executive Management, corporate function heads, and regional leadership.

The role
As Head of Group Compliance Audit & Speak-Up Programs, you will have end-to-end responsibility for owning, driving, and continuously developing our Group Compliance Audit Program and Group Speak-Up Program. You will set enterprise-wide priorities, strengthen governance, monitor implementation, and ensure that the right controls, processes, systems, training, investigations, documentation, and reporting are in place.

In this role, you will advise and influence stakeholders at senior levels and help ensure that Legal & Compliance can provide effective business support within these risk areas.

Key responsibilities
  • Own and drive the Group Compliance Audit Program and the Group Speak-Up Program, including related governance, policies, procedures, processes, systems, guidelines, and templates
  • Set annual wheels, goals, risk assessments, mitigating actions, and operational priorities for both compliance programs
  • Conduct compliance audits across Group Compliance Programs
  • Assess and implement digital solutions to operationalize audit, Speak-Up, case management, investigation, and reporting processes, including potential AI-enabled solutions
  • Conduct and drive investigations, including serious breaches of applicable policy and law, conclusions, recommendations, and documentation
  • Prepare periodic reporting for key stakeholders, including the Chief Compliance Officer, Executive Management, the Group Business Ethics Compliance Committee, and Board-level forums

What you bring
At Bavarian Nordic, we are guided by purpose, accountability, and integrity. We are looking for an experienced compliance professional who combines strong governance, risk, audit, investigation, and program ownership expertise with the ability to collaborate across stakeholders. You can turn complex compliance requirements into practical processes and influence senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.

You likely bring:

  • A master’s degree in law, finance/accounting, business, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in an internal group corporate compliance function, preferably from a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or finance
  • Experience owning and driving global compliance frameworks, such as compliance audit, internal investigations, or similar risk areas
  • Experience conducting compliance audits, investigations, findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions, regions, and seniority levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Why this role
This is a unique time to join Bavarian Nordic. As we continue to professionalize our Compliance function, you will be the guardian of two key global compliance frameworks and help mature how we manage compliance audits, Speak-Up, investigations, controls, and reporting across the organization.

This position offers a unique opportunity for you to:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of key global compliance programs
  • Shape and mature how compliance audits, Speak-Up, investigations, and reporting are embedded across the organization
  • Work at a strategic level with visibility toward Executive Management, corporate function heads, regional leadership, and governance forums
  • Join a compliance function where professionalism, integrity, accountability, and collaboration are core values
