PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head Government & Public Affairs will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to influence public policy, regulatory frameworks, and legislative initiatives that support the implementation, growth and integration of advanced air mobility technologies, ecosystem & operations. This role involves close collaboration with federal, state, and local government agencies, industry coalitions, and internal stakeholders. The role also engages with community stakeholders to garner public acceptance for the industry and influence an Urban Air Mobility ecosystem that is favorable to Eve Air Mobility and its customers.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Policy Advocacy & Strategy:
• Engage, develop and implement public policy agenda & advocacy strategies to support AAM initiatives that support Eve’s strategic goals of launching and growing AAM in target markets in the US (including FL, TX, CA and NY), Brazil and select countries worldwide.
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting AAM, including FAA rulemaking (including 2024 FAA reauthorization Act provisions), airspace integration, and infrastructure policy to ensure they are aligned with Eve’s aircraft and overall priorities.
• Collaborate with Eve’s partners to advance legislative proposals and community engagement & acceptance to launch and scale an agnostic UAM ecosystem
• Advocate for Eve’s position on pending legislation as the state and local level through lobbying, written, and verbal testimony before federal, the state and local legislative bodies. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry associations (e.g., FAA, GAMA, NASA, and other AAM Associations).
• Represent the company in public forums, working groups, and industry coalitions.
• Develop relationships with elected officials and key members of their administrations in target cities and states including South Florida, New York City, and Houston, TX.
Regulatory Affairs:
• Collaborate with legal and technical teams to interpret and respond to regulatory proposals.
• Draft policy briefs, comment letters, and position papers on key issues such as eVTOL certification, Urban Air Traffic Management, and UAM operations.
Internal Coordination:
• Report and advise executive leadership on risks and various opportunities including but not limited to policy, regulatory affairs, partnerships, trials, and grants.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams (Business development, certification, engineering) to align business goals with regulatory pathways.
• Leverage media relationships in collaboration with Eve’s communications team to advance the public narrative around.
Education
• Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
• U.S. Citizenship
• Role will be based in Melbourne, Florida or Washington D.C
Experience
• 7+ years of experience in government affairs, preferably in aerospace
• Deep understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory process, especially FAA and DOT.
• Experience working on Federal, State or Local level
• Experience in successfully advocating at multiple levels of the government
• Strong communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills
• Public speaking and eloquent writing abilities are required.
