Opportunity, Scope & Profile:
The Head of Global Engineering & Maintenance will play a crucial role in shaping and leading the Company's engineering and maintenance strategy on a global scale. She or he will be responsible for developing engineering and maintenance standards to drive human and food safety performance, optimizing efficiency, reliability, and product quality. They will also ensure that all Capital Projects are executed according to the global standard. This individual will work closely with the Operations Senior Leadership Team and the Regional Engineering Leaders globally. The scope for this role spans 53 manufacturing facilities, ensuring that mid to large Capital Projects are executed according to global standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic global agenda for Engineering and Maintenance functions, emphasizing visionary leadership, functional excellence, and innovation.
- Set high standards for industry benchmarks, including Safety and Food Safety, with specific timelines and measures to ensure McCain Foods' prominence.
- Assume full accountability for all capital programs and spending, ensuring projects adhere to global standards, are within scope, and meet deadlines.
- Lead the capital budgeting process, defining global standards of engineering for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Actively engage with ventures and startups, contributing to building new manufacturing plants and upgrading existing facilities.
- Demonstrate leadership through influence to create a cohesive global engineering strategy.
- Own Capex and approval processes for new builds, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
- Continuously review operational requirements to sustain existing operations and ensure success in ongoing expansion plans.
- Develop the engineering organization through effective performance management, employee feedback, coaching, and growth-oriented development plans.

- Prepare and deliver annual operating plans for all areas - Capital, Maintenance, etc.
- Constantly search and evaluate technology to ensure optimal and state-of-the-art processes and procedures.

Required Experience & Technical Qualifications:
- 15 years of progressive or comparable experience in Engineering and Maintenance (a mix of both Operations and Engineering would be an asset)
- Minimum of 15-20 years of relevant experience in a similar role, experience in managing engineering functions in a complex and matrixed organization
- Program management skills: identification and management of stakeholders, milestone development and tracking of progress, resource management, risk mitigation, detailed action planning, and basic familiarity with change management
- Proven track record in a management role - experienced in managing direct reports

Education:
- Min. Bachelor's Degree, Engineering, an additional qualification in Business Adm inistration (Master's level preferred) is a clear plus.
