What’s the role  

The Head of Reporting & Accounting is accountable for leading the delivery of high-quality reporting, analysis and core finance processes that support internal and external financial reporting, business appraisal and decision-making. The role provides strategic leadership across expenditure, revenue and hydrocarbon-related finance activities, ensuring reporting integrity, process excellence and effective stakeholder engagement. 

The role acts as a senior interface between Finance leadership, Group Reporting, Business Finance and Reporting & Accounting teams, driving integrated ways of working, strengthening finance capabilities and enabling a connected reporting and accounting community. The role is expected to continuously improve finance delivery, enhance decision support and foster a culture of financial discipline, collaboration and professional excellence. 

The ideal candidate is a respected finance leader who combines strong reporting and accounting expertise with the ability to lead people, influence stakeholders and drive organisational improvement. They are comfortable operating across complex finance environments, balancing governance and control with business value creation. They build trusted relationships, develop talent, champion innovation and foster an integrated reporting and accounting community that delivers high-quality outcomes and sustainable business performance. 

What you will be doing 

  • Lead reporting and accounting delivery: Ensure the effective delivery of reporting, analysis and key finance processes supporting internal and external reporting, business appraisal and decision-making activities. 

  • Partner with senior finance stakeholders: Act as a key interface to Finance leadership, Group Reporting and business stakeholders, ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes and alignment across reporting and accounting activities. 

  • Drive process excellence and transformation: Identify, define and lead opportunities to improve reporting and accounting processes, standardise ways of working and simplify delivery across the organisation. 

  • Enable integrated finance outcomes: Foster strong collaboration across reporting, accounting, business finance and finance operations teams to drive an integrated finance agenda and maximise organisational effectiveness. 

  • Strengthen financial stewardship and governance: Ensure finance activities operate within established accounting, control, assurance and governance frameworks while maintaining reporting accuracy and integrity. 

  • Lead capability and talent development: Coach and develop finance professionals, promoting technical excellence, professional growth and future-ready finance capabilities. 

  • Build high-performing communities: Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices across reporting and accounting teams and stakeholder groups. 

  • Champion digital and data-enabled finance: Promote the use of digital tools, analytics, automation and data-driven insights to improve finance performance, efficiency and decision support. 

  • Drive continuous improvement: Lead initiatives that enhance reporting quality, strengthen controls and improve operational effectiveness through simplification and innovation.

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, reporting requirements, controls and governance frameworks. 

  • Experience partnering with senior finance and business stakeholders in complex organisations. 

  • Demonstrated success leading transformation, process improvement or finance capability initiatives. 

  • Professional accounting qualification or relevant finance, accounting or business degree preferred.
