Job Description
About this Role:
The Head of Foundational Technology Platforms is responsible for leading the development, deployment, and management of core technology infrastructure and platforms across Takeda. This role focuses on ensuring robust, scalable, and secure technology foundations exist to support all operational and strategic initiatives across all platforms (core and dedicated) and Business Units/Functions (BU/BF) while maximizing up time and reducing cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage robust foundational tech platforms to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Engage with other Global DD&T (GDD&T) platform leads to ensure infrastructure is built to support all internal & external digital experiences; collaborate with Chief Data Officer (CDO), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure strict compliance with data, technology, and information security standards.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of core IT infrastructure (e.g., network, cloud environment), ensuring continuous innovation and timely upgrades.
- Develop and enforce best practices for IT infrastructure management, including disaster recovery, data storage, network design, and cloud services.
- Increase uptime, minimize disruptions, and reduce costs while delivering against all infrastructural technology requirements.
- Maintain ERP platform to meet the needs of all stakeholders across the enterprise (e.g., supply chain, finance).
- Ensure that all foundational tech platforms enable the business, align and prioritize their work, and are held accountable for achieving agreed-upon results.
- Work closely with other platform leads and DD&T leads to ensure the foundational tech platforms serve business, employee, patient, HCP and other stakeholder needs.
Network & infrastructure:
- Manage network & infrastructure assessment, configuration, and maintenance to ensure reliability and performance (e.g., cloud, network, data centers, hosting facilities).
- Lead initiatives targeted at migrating from data center to the cloud.
- Manage lifecycle of enterprise hardware assets (e.g., servers) associated with infrastructure.
- Provision end user devices (e.g., laptops).
- Oversee management and configuration of software tools (e.g., DevOps toolchain).
- Supervise the development and deployment of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and PowerApp solutions to digitally enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage SAP solution designed to provide tools and capabilities required to drive edge computing, enabling real-time analytics close to data sources.
Data platform:
- Oversee data platform (incl. data storage, database infrastructure, and data engineering) to maintain efficient and secure management of data assets as well as application hosting.
- Partner with the CTO and CDO to ensure alignment with digital & data strategy and governance standards.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Required:
- 15+ years of IT/DD&T and line management experience, which includes project management experience, people management experience and 5 years as a first line manager in the IT/DD&T function.
- Proven leadership skills including the ability to inspire and motivate staff from different backgrounds and cultures
- International experience - experience of working in other countries or in a global role
- Extensive Executive Technology Service Delivery Experience in building and running ERP, LMS, Document Management Centers of Excellence globally.
- Ability to engage effectively with colleagues and senior business stakeholders and influence them in service of achieving common goals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills including the ability to communicate ideas effectively and inspire people within the business and DD&T as well as the ability to build strong working relationships quickly.
- Experienced in scaling new IT and Digital application services capabilities in a global organization
- Communication - ability to communicate ideas and inspire people within the business and DD&T, and the ability to build working relationships quickly.
- People Leadership - Build and lead an effective team to enable the business while driving efficiency and effectiveness and long term-capability, balancing the need of the function and the business
- Analytical Skills - ability to analyze a wide variety of data and derive actionable insights.
- Management - ability to set priorities, align stakeholder expectations, and develop and execute an associated plan of action
- Good industry knowledge and ability to understand competitor or future competitor's strategies and product roadmaps.
- Entrepreneurial energy driving value ahead of demand
- Strong working knowledge of the intersection of technology strategy and the impact of new emerging technologies, such as data and analytics

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$300,800.00 - $413,600.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
