Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

Based in Dublin (hybrid) and reporting to Remitly's VP, Finance, you will be the senior Finance leader for Remitly Europe Limited (REL) and the primary Finance partner for our Europe business, one of Remitly's most important growth regions. This role is fully embedded within our global FP&A organization, combining hands-on ownership of REL's financial control, safeguarding, and regulatory obligations with true strategic partnership to European business leadership on forecasting, unit economics, and growth.

You will lead the REL finance team, act as a key advisor to the REL Executive Management Team and Board, and serve as the day-to-day Finance partner to the leaders driving our Europe business — helping shape unit economics, investment, and expansion decisions as we continue to scale across the region.

Note: This role is designated as a Controlled Function (CF) under the CBI's Fitness & Probity Regime, currently encompassing both the Head of Finance and Head of Safeguarding PCF designations for REL. The successful candidate must satisfy the CBI's Fitness & Probity Standards and will be required to complete a Fitness & Probity Declaration prior to appointment.

You Will:

Finance Business Partnering & Strategy – Europe Send

  • Serve as the primary Finance business partner for Remitly's Europe send region, driving financial planning, revenue optimization, and unit economics in close partnership with regional business leaders
  • Build and maintain financial models to assess revenue drivers, unit economics, pricing strategy, and market expansion opportunities across European corridors
  • Lead forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking for the Europe send business, delivering data-driven insights that inform investment and resource allocation decisions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams — Marketing, Product, Pricing, and Central FP&A — to analyze business metrics, identify trends, and surface opportunities to drive top-line growth and profitability
  • Assess the financial viability of strategic initiatives, partnerships, and new market entries across Europe, ensuring long-term value creation
  • Deliver clear, compelling financial storytelling — translating complex data into actionable insights for the REL Executive Management Team, the Board, and Remitly's global finance leadership

Safeguarding & Capital Compliance

  • Own REL's customer funds safeguarding procedures in accordance with PSD2 / PSR 2018 requirements, including segregated safeguarding accounts, monthly reconciliations, and auditor confirmation processes
  • Ensure REL's capital resources comply with own funds requirements at all times, including preparation of relevant calculations, monitoring of wind-down planning buffers, and escalation of breaches or near-breaches
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Global Accounting, and the REL Head of Compliance to maintain robust safeguarding controls and evidence of compliance

Statutory Reporting, Audit & Regulatory Compliance

  • Oversee statutory reporting compliance for REL, ensuring all accounting, audit, tax, and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors and ensure audit readiness across all regulated activities
  • Partner with Remitly's Global Tax function to ensure ongoing tax compliance across REL activities and advise on tax impacts of European expansion
  • In partnership with Compliance and Legal, own finance-related obligations tied to REL's payment institution licence and CBI supervisory requirements
  • Maintain a thorough and current understanding of the regulatory landscape — including PSD2, CBI guidance, and applicable EBA standards — and proactively identify impacts on existing and future processes
  • Coordinate finance workstreams for new regulatory licence applications and new product launches across European jurisdictions

Finance Leadership

  • Work closely with Remitly's centralised US finance teams (Tax, Treasury, Accounting, FP&A) to drive delivery of Finance commitments across Europe
  • Support entity-level board reporting and policy governance, including preparation and presentation of materials for the REL Board
  • Partner with business owners and the FP&A team to support annual budgeting, expense management, and headcount planning
  • Build, lead, and develop the REL finance team as the business scales

You Have:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 8–10+ years of progressive post-qualification finance experience
  • Direct experience working within a CBI-regulated or equivalent European financial services firm (payment institution, e-money institution, or bank), with strong working knowledge of PSD2 / PSR 2018 safeguarding requirements
  • Significant experience in FP&A, business finance, or strategic finance, with a track record of financial modeling, forecasting, and driving business outcomes through partnership with senior stakeholders
  • Strong background in financial controls, statutory reporting, and regulatory compliance, combined with the commercial acumen to influence pricing, growth, and investment decisions
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the executive presence to engage senior leadership, the Board, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Eligibility to satisfy the CBI's Fitness & Probity Standards for a Controlled Function

Desirable

  • FinTech or payments industry experience
  • Familiarity with CBI supervisory expectations, including engagement with the CBI's PRISM supervisory framework
  • Experience managing or contributing to wind-down planning processes
  • Experience working in a multinational or globally matrixed organisation
  • Knowledge of FRS 102 and/or US GAAP
