About the Role:

We're searching for an outcome focused and highly effective Finance leader to join Remitly's growing Finance team, supported by our Finance Transformation Director. This person will lead our Brazilian finance operations and will be a key driver to ensure our team grows efficiently and effectively as our business expands. This role requires expertise in team management, prioritization, communication throughout the team and global organization, finance, regulatory reporting, compliance, and executive presence / corporate governance. You will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

You Will:

  • Be responsible for Finance deliverables and commitments in the LATAM region working with our centralized finance teams in the US (tax, treasury, accounting, FP&A, accounts payable, financial reporting, etc.) and via close and effective collaboration with Product, Engineering, Business Management, Corporate Development, Compliance and Legal to ensure we are managing our business prudently.
  • Oversight of the statutory reporting compliance of Remitly's LATAM entities, ensuring that all accounting, audit, tax and other filings are completed, accurately and timely, including, but not limited to, the effective partnership with external auditors.
  • Responsible for daily customer funds safeguarding procedures, including close and effective collaboration with US Product and Engineering teams, and the Global Accounting and Compliance teams.
  • Ensure the company's capital resources are in compliance with its regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Through partnership with the Remitly's Compliance and Legal functions, own and drive the finance-related responsibilities associated with our money transfer licenses and related compliance requirements with the regulatory authorities, and more as expansion continues.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the compliance landscape and the applicable financial and regulatory reporting requirements and proactively identify and plan for the impact to both existing processes and expected / future processes.
  • Build a strong relationship with Remitly's Global Tax and Accounting function, to ensure ongoing compliance across all LATAM activities, and advise on tax impacts of ongoing international expansion.
  • Lead and coordinate finance efforts in the LATAM for new entity launches, regulatory license applications in new jurisdictions and new product launches.
  • Effectively lead and manage through a well-organized and diligent approach, aligned with both other Regional Finance leaders as well as our Global Finance Team.
  • Maintain oversight of outsourced services provided to Remitly's LATAM entities.
  • Manage entity level board reporting and policy governance.
  • Partner with business owners and the Financial Planning & Analysis team to support annual budgeting, expense and headcount management.

You Have:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Finance, including experience in management of a team of finance professionals.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting; CPA or Chartered Accountant preferred.
  • International experience, working in a regulated entity by the Central Bank and FinTech industry experience are highly valued.
  • An active accounting license from the "Conselho Regional de Contabilidade (CRC)", is required. Experience with COSIF reporting is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FRS 102 and US GAAP, current trends, and developments.
  • Experience succeeding in a dynamic, fast-paced, ambiguous, and highly entrepreneurial business environment
  • Ability to drive results and partner with empathy across geographies and business units.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal) and partnership skills.
  • Ability to speak Portuguese, Spanish and English.
  • Some travel will be required.
