Job Description Summary

The Head of Finance, ESO LMO&I is a senior finance executive role with enterprise-wide strategic influence, accountable for shaping and driving the long-term financial and value-creation agenda of ESO LMO&I within Sandoz Technical Operations.
As a core member of the LMO&I Platform Finance Leadership Team, this role acts as the primary financial steward, strategic thought partner, and trusted advisor to the ESO LMO&I Leadership Team, the Head of Finance LMO&I Platform, and senior Technical Operations leadership. The position carries material decision authority across network strategy, manufacturing economics, supplier and make-or-buy decisions, and long-term COGS and EBITDA performance.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Head of Finance, ESO LMO&I is a senior finance executive role with enterprise-wide strategic influence, accountable for shaping and driving the long-term financial and value-creation agenda of ESO LMO&I within Sandoz Technical Operations.

As a core member of the LMO&I Platform Finance Leadership Team, this role acts as the primary financial steward, strategic thought partner, and trusted advisor to the ESO LMO&I Leadership Team, the Head of Finance LMO&I Platform, and senior Technical Operations leadership. The position carries material decision authority across network strategy, manufacturing economics, supplier and make-or-buy decisions, and long-term COGS and EBITDA performance.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to

  • Co-owns the financial strategy for ESO LMO&I, shaping and challenging business strategy to maximize long-term value creation, EBITDA delivery, and capital efficiency in line with the Sandoz enterprise agenda. Acts as finance lead and decision partner for network strategy, footprint optimization, make-or-buy decisions, and high-impact transformation initiatives across ESO LMO&I. Leads the financial evaluation, prioritization, and governance of strategic investments, restructuring initiatives, and productivity programs, ensuring disciplined capital allocation and value realization. Translates the 5-year Strategic Plan into robust financial roadmaps, including COGS, productivity, and cost competitiveness trajectories, with clear accountability and milestone tracking.
  • Executive Business Partnering & Governance: Serves as the senior financial advisor and challenger to the ESO LMO&I Leadership Team, providing independent, forward-looking insights and scenario-based decision support. Provides enterprise-level financial transparency on key business drivers, trade-offs, and risks, enabling fact-based executive decision-making. Represents Finance in senior cross-functional governance forums, influencing outcomes across Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and External Manufacturing. Ensures strong financial governance, compliance, and controls across ESO LMO&I while enabling speed, accountability, and entrepreneurial decision-making.
  • Supplier Strategy, External Manufacturing & Commercial Leadership: Leads financial strategy and oversight for manufacturing and supply agreements (inbound and outbound), including direct involvement in negotiations with strategic suppliers and partners. Owns the financial dimension of supplier relationship management, driving cost leadership, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation across a complex global supplier base. Ensures delivery of COGS savings and productivity commitments in line with the 5-year Strategic Plan and Sandoz EBITDA objectives. Drives complexity reduction across suppliers, SKUs, and processes, balancing cost, resilience, and service performance.
  • Productivity, Cost Leadership & Performance Management: Provides executive leadership for productivity, benchmarking, and cost competitiveness initiatives across ESO LMO&I, embedding a strong generics and continuous improvement mindset. Owns financial governance for make-vs-buy decisions, No Pro initiatives, and cross-network optimization programs. Ensures a fit-for-purpose cost structure, actively challenging assumptions and reallocating resources to highest-value activities. Leads financial performance management across planning, forecasting, standard costing, and results delivery (ACT/TGT/LF), ensuring clear accountability and corrective actions.
  • Inventory, Supply Chain & Working Capital Excellence: Partners with Supply Chain and Manufacturing leadership to optimize inventory levels and working capital, ensuring transparency on financial trade-offs and service implications. Drives financial rigor in S&OP and IBP processes, enabling integrated, enterprise-aligned decision-making.
  • Leadership, Talent & Organizational Impact: Leads, develops, and inspires a high-performing team of senior finance managers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and enterprise thinking. Acts as a role model for leadership behaviors, collaboration, and ethical decision-making across Technical Operations. Builds a strong succession pipeline and actively contributes to the broader Finance leadership community within Sandoz.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential Requirements:

  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, development, or technical operations, including exposure to complex, global operating models
  • Demonstrated track record in enterprise-level business partnering, strategic finance, and value creation

  • Strong understanding of GxP-regulated environments, external manufacturing, and network economics

  • Proven ability to lead senior teams, influence executive stakeholders, and operate with high autonomy and judgment
