In this role as Head of Ethics & Compliance (E&C) for our Japan Business Unit (JPBU), you will respond to the rapidly to changing environment and business needs, it is close to the market and encourages ethical behavior in line with Takeda's values. By working in an agile manner E&C ensures the balance between stable structures, governance, processes and systems, and dynamic approaches to delivering innovative solutions to appropriately manage our risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a proactive advisor and leader for JPBU, understanding the commercial landscape and external dynamics to guide leaders in navigating ethical dilemmas while balancing risk management and innovation.
- Develop a values-driven framework to assess, mitigate, and manage risks tied to JPBU activities.
- Provide strategic contributions to Takeda's Global Ethics & Compliance (E&C) program, ensuring Japan business needs are represented.
- Implement the Global E&C program within JPBU, aligned with business and regulatory requirements, driving continuous improvement, including Digital E&C initiatives.
- Utilize emerging technologies to simplify compliance processes and enhance risk management within JPBU.
- Collaborate closely with Japan Oncology BU (JOBU) to align commercial activities and oversee E&C perspectives, including policy, training, monitoring, investigations, and partnerships.
- Chair the JPBU Risk Ethics and Compliance Committee (RECC).
- Supervise the Takeda Japan Compliance Program and provide necessary reports to the Japan Country Committee (JCC).
- Represent Takeda in industry associations, promoting E&C streams and adhering to MHLW guidelines for promotional activities.
- Partner with JPBU leadership to embed an ethical mindset and values-driven behaviors within the team.
- Develop the JPBU E&C team to enhance business understanding and provide sound guidance on E&C-related matters.
- Act as sponsor for global E&C initiatives while collaborating with global colleagues.
- Represent JPBU within Takeda's leadership teams, contributing to global initiatives and offering guidance on Japan-specific business challenges.
- Monitor emerging regulatory trends, industry practices, and risks to ensure proactive measures are taken within JPBU and reported globally.
- Partner with regional and global functions (Medical, Legal, Finance, HR, Risk Management, etc.) to ensure effective implementation of the E&C program.
- Drive strategic alignment between Global E&C initiatives and Japan-specific tactics to cultivate an ethical and compliant work culture.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in a global environment, ideally within Ethics & Compliance or a strategic business function.
- Extensive regional and global insight into laws, regulations, and industry guidance in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Proven track record in developing frameworks to manage ethics and compliance risks.
- Strong business acumen with prior commercial experience preferred.
- Well-established external networks within the global pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, including informal leadership in global contexts.
- Experience working internationally, including cross-border assignments.

- Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
