About the Role

As the Head of Enterprise Engineering, you will lead the strategic direction and execution of our enterprise engineering operations in a high-growth digital banking environment. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving the enterprise engineering landscape that powers our critical payment systems, enterprise applications, and software development infrastructure.

This is a unique hands-on leadership opportunity where you'll be both architect and builder, shaping our enterprise solutions while rolling up your sleeves to deliver value to our bank.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and manage high-performing software engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, building a scalable team structure that supports our growth ambitions
• Drive technical excellence and best practices across all engineering disciplines
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product, cybersecurity, compliance, and business teams

Payment Systems & Domain Expertise

• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical payment systems including payment gateways, POS systems, and credit card processing platforms
• Ensure PCI-DSS compliance across all payment-related systems and processes
• Lead the integration and management of e-wallet solutions and third-party payment providers
• Drive innovation in payment technologies while maintaining security and regulatory compliance

Enterprise Application Management

• Manage the full lifecycle of enterprise applications, both in-house developed and procured from third-party vendors
• Oversee the integration, customization, and maintenance of core banking and enterprise systems
• Establish governance frameworks for vendor management and application portfolio optimization
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all enterprise applications

Software Architecture & Development

• Define and champion robust software architecture principles that support scalability, security, and maintainability
• Lead the design and implementation of microservices, APIs, and distributed systems
• Establish coding standards, review processes, and quality assurance frameworks

AI-Driven Engineering Innovation

• Define and champion an AI-agent-first platform culture, integrating intelligent automation and agentic systems into every aspect of our software development lifecycle
• Build and deploy AI-powered enterprise agents that automate routine tasks, eliminate toil, and dramatically improve operational efficiency
• Leverage AI/ML technologies to enhance software development productivity, code quality, and system reliability
• Implement AI-driven tools for code generation, testing, deployment, and monitoring

What We're Seeking

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering and enterprise technology, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing engineering teams
• Proven expertise in payment domains including payment gateways, POS systems, credit card processing, and PCI-DSS compliance
• Deep expertise in software architecture, system design, and modern software development practices
• Experience in fintech, banking, or regulated industries is highly preferred

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Java, Javascript, NodeJS, Python or similar)
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Strong background in infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and GitOps practices
• Experience with payment processing systems, APIs, and financial protocols
• Deep understanding of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and system monitoring

Leadership Qualities

• Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic thinking
• Strong communication skills to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience driving cultural transformation and adoption of new technologies
• Data-driven approach to measuring and improving developer productivity and system performance
• Proven ability to reduce technical debt and eliminate developer toil at scale
• Strong understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements in the Malaysian financial services sector
