We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead the engineering function for our construction projects, specifically focusing on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems and Architectural design. As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical direction, design, and execution of construction projects across these key disciplines, ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team including MEP engineers, architects, and other technical professionals.
Define team objectives, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance to ensure project goals are achieved.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
Project Oversight & Execution:
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of MEP and architectural systems for construction projects.
Ensure that all engineering designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Manage the coordination between MEP, architectural, and other disciplines (structural, civil, etc.) to ensure seamless project integration.
Technical Leadership & Quality Control:
Provide technical leadership to resolve complex engineering challenges related to MEP and architectural design and construction.
Ensure the integrity and quality of all engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Implement rigorous quality assurance and control procedures to ensure the highest standards of work across all projects.
Stakeholder & Client Management:
Act as the key point of contact for clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are met and issues are addressed promptly.
Prepare and present technical reports and progress updates to senior management and clients.
Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers involved in MEP and architectural services.
Budget & Resource Management:
Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.
Oversee cost estimation and ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.
Allocate and manage resources effectively across multiple projects, ensuring timely and on-budget completion.
Health, Safety & Sustainability:
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all project sites, ensuring compliance with local and international safety regulations.
Integrate sustainable building practices and energy-efficient solutions into MEP and architectural designs.
Design & Innovation:
Drive innovation in building design and systems, integrating new technologies and materials to enhance project outcomes.
Ensure that architectural designs are practical, efficient, and in line with client expectations, while considering functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Professional Engineering or Architectural certification/licensure is highly preferred (e.g., PE, LEED).
Experience:
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in construction engineering with a focus on MEP and architectural systems.
Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex construction projects, particularly in the commercial, residential, and/or infrastructure sectors.
At least 5 years in a leadership role, managing cross-functional teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of MEP design, systems integration, and construction practices.
Expertise in architectural design principles, with the ability to work with architects and other design professionals.
Proficiency with industry-standard design and project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, MS Project).
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders effectively.
Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to manage and resolve project challenges efficiently.
