Job Description

As the Head of MFCs for Italy, you will be the driving force behind the day-to-day execution and operational excellence of Glovo’s proprietary network of dark stores, known as Micro Fulfillment Centers (MFCs), across the country. You will be directly responsible for the hands-on management of the MFC business in Italy, ensuring the achievement of local top and bottom-line goals. This role is both strategic and operational. Your focus will encompass executing the local rollout plan, overseeing the facility management of the sites, maximizing supply chain efficiency, and driving the commercial management of local suppliers. By optimizing site performance and leading the local workforce, you will solidify Glovo’s leadership in Q-Commerce within the Italian market. 

THE JOURNEY

  • Take full ownership of the daily operations and execution of the MFC business across Italy, including the comprehensive facility management of all sites, ensuring fulfillment centers are safe, optimized, and meet their operational and financial KPIs.

  • Execute the local market Masterplans and Business Plans, directly managing the Italian P&L targets and driving continuous improvement in unit economics.

  • Drive the commercial management of local suppliers, leading negotiations, optimizing sourcing, and ensuring profitable margins, while maintaining operational discipline across the wider supply chain and warehouse operations.

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing local team, encompassing both office staff and front-line operations colleagues across Italy.

  • Identify operational bottlenecks on the ground and implement immediate, effective tactical solutions to improve throughput, fulfillment times, and overall site efficiency.

  • Work closely with central teams to localize global strategies into actionable, executable steps tailored specifically for the Italian market.

  • Collect on-the-ground feedback from local teams, customers, partners, and suppliers, feeding it back to the Product and Growth teams to refine tools and processes.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE

  • 10+ years of experience in highly operational and execution-focused roles within the Retail, Grocery, or Logistics industries (e-commerce / quick commerce experience is a huge plus).

  • Proven leadership experience directly managing large, cross-functional local teams and frontline operational staff.

  • Deep understanding of the Italian retail/grocery market, vendor landscape, and local operational nuances.

  • A strong "hands-on" bias for action and a proven track record of executing fast, turning high-level plans into measurable operational outcomes.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing a local P&L and optimizing cost structures.

  • An analytical mindset to transform daily operational data into actionable, meaningful improvements (advanced Excel/GSheets and Looker/Tableau user).

  • Ability to build KPIs, standardize local operational procedures, and troubleshoot processes from scratch.

  • Fluency in Italian and English is required.

  • Interest in start-ups, technology, and a fast-paced environment.
