The Role

About us

The FT Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign (FLIC), the fast-expanding financial literacy charity founded by the Financial Times, promotes financial literacy where it is needed most to have a significant, sustainable societal impact. The charity has been working at the grassroots with young people in schools, gig economy workers and online learning environments across the UK, as well as on a policy level by pursuing lobbying campaigns, with the mission of making a dent in the global scandal of financial illiteracy.

In our warm, collaborative culture, you’ll connect with a diverse community of experts who support your growth, career aspirations and wellbeing.

Your future will be filled with opportunities that challenge and encourage you. With no fixed path, you’ll discover new skills and forge a career that can take you anywhere.

Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

We believe in the power of unique perspectives and want all voices in our organisation to be heard, respected and valued. A supportive workplace is one where employees feel they can be themselves and operate to their full potential. We are committed to removing barriers for everyone, with a focus on addressing those faced by underrepresented groups.

The Role

The Head of Development will play a pivotal role in expanding FT FLIC's research, policy, and advocacy initiatives, particularly within the areas of financial literacy, inclusion, exploitation and economic inequality. You will lead fundraising efforts to support new research and policy campaigns, secure strategic partnerships, and develop impactful advocacy initiatives that drive policy change. You’ll have experience in developing and executing fundraising strategies, as well as a strong understanding of economic inequality and the intersection between media literacy, digital literacy, and financial education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead fundraising strategies to support FT FLIC’s research and advocacy on financial literacy, inclusion, and economic inequality.
  • Write compelling grant proposals and manage donor relationships, reporting, and stewardship.
  • Organise fundraising events and identify new revenue streams, including sponsorships and individual giving.
  • Build and manage partnerships with governments, NGOs, corporates, and academia to support the Centre’s mission.
  • Support and align advocacy campaigns with fundraising efforts, ensuring impact and policy relevance.
  • Oversee campaign effectiveness and reporting, while managing fundraising budgets and revenue targets.

Your Skills

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant field (such as Economics, International Development, Public Policy, Business Administration, or similar)
  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising, business development, and partnerships—ideally in social impact or financial inclusion.
  • Proven success securing diverse funding (grants, foundations, corporates).
  • Excellent communicator, able to influence and engage varied audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset and leadership experience.
  • Comfortable working across teams and managing high-level stakeholders.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 14th May 2025
