About the role:

The Head of Development and Scaling will be a senior leader within SimCorp’s Business Processes as a Service (Business Services) function, responsible for improving functionality, standardization and scale of the Business Services. This role involves building a performing team of SimCorp Dimension specialists within various process domains, identifying solution gaps and ensuring change/optimization initiatives to improve efficiency or quality. The ideal candidate will bring expertise with configuration of SimCorp Dimension as well as proven experience in designing and implementing change initiatives that ensure standardization and efficiency.

This role will be reporting to the Head of Business Services and is part of the Business Services leadership team.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the strategy for the development and scaling department, aligning with the overall goals of the Business Services function.
  • Drive the strategic direction of our Business Services solutions taking into account emerging and legacy technologies.
  • Lead the establishment and growth of the development and scaling team, including hiring, mentoring, and developing staff to build a professional function.
  • Set the vision and roadmap for the team including process improvements, and automation initiatives.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee the day-to-day work of SimCorp Dimensions specialist to continually improve the standard configuration of SimCorp’s software solutions for the requirements of Business Services.
  • Ensure close alignment with the service delivery teams to identify solution gaps, drive scale and develop tactical solutions to improve our solutions.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build a team culture centered around collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, setting clear goals and ensuring ongoing development through training and mentoring.
  • Promote initiatives to enhance the team's skillset, including leveraging technology and data analytics for better decision-making.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to developing and improving the Business Services, representing Business Services in discussions with other functions.
  • Collaborate closely with peers within the Business Services function as well as technology teams outside of Business Services to ensure seamless integration of Business Services improvement initiatives within SimCorp’s product roadmap.
  • Maintain relationships with external counterparties, including technology and service providers, to resolve issues, fill solution gaps and improve service quality.

Change Management and Transformation:

  • Promote innovation by implementing leading solutions and leveraging technology to reduce manual intervention.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes, proactively adjusting strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Natural ability to challenge the status quo and identify improvement initiatives.

Required Experience:

  • 10-15+ years of experience within service development and optimization for the SimCorp Dimension platform and with a significant portion spent in technical leadership roles within software, technology or financial services.
  • Extensive knowledge of the investment management industry from front to back.
  • High level (knowledge and experience) of programming languages and methodologies.
  • Documented history of building and leading top-performing teams.
  • Experience of leading, directing and motivating staff to deliver projects with stretching scope and objectives.
  • Significant familiarity with industry-standard platforms and automation technologies (RPA, Python, data analytics).
  • Pre-condition (not just a beneficial add-on): In depth knowledge in running and operating SimCorp Dimension.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering large-scale operational changes, including technology upgrades and process automation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is highly advantageous.
  • Comprehensive leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of leading both day-to-day operations and long-term projects.

This role calls for a visionary leader who can not only lead current development and scaling initiatives but also shape the future direction of the function to support the firm's growth and innovation goals.
