Department Overview
The Sales department is responsible for the strategic planning of overall business growth identifying opportunities with new Companies and Clients for all Monex currency products (FX Spot, Forwards, Options) as well as maintaining relationships with existing Companies and Clients, increasing their business revenue and cross-collaborating with the Introducing Brokers (IB) department wherever possible.
Job Overview
The Head Desk (Germany) is responsible for the main revenue generating areas of the business with oversight over the German market. The job requires the holder to ensure that their sales team meets their sales targets and that they work in accordance with the firm’s code of conduct and regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Sales Business Strategy
- Monitor effectiveness of strategies in line with performance and adapting where necessary;
- Provide feedback from their respective teams on new products and initiatives that will increase revenue.
Sales Training
- Develop and implement an effective sales pipeline and lead tracking process;
- Implement best practice in sales techniques throughout the department;
- Ensure Client databases are being used effectively and provides a competitive advantage;
- Lead the negotiations for contracts with customers and ensure commerciality.
Sales Staff Management
- Overall responsibility for the daily performance of their respective Sales team, setting revenue targets and the associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
- Meet with the Sales Managers Head of Front Office to assess company performance against the KPIs set;
- Ensure the company is recruiting employees who have been assessed as ‘fit and proper’ in relation to the requirements of the role to drive continuing growth of the business;
- Ensure the teams are managed effectively to allow sales members to progress through the business and teams & oversee performance management of under-performing sales staff.
Operational Sales Related Activities
- Work under the direction of the Head of Front Office to ensure an acceptable balance between revenue delivery & Monex’s regulatory compliance policies;
- Ensure adherence with the appropriate regulatory bodies’ principles of business and to lead by example those whom they manage;
- Assist the Head of Front Office to identify systems and controls weaknesses and suggest remedial actions as relevant for the German market;
- Be commercially aware and use professional networks to keep up to date on competitor’s strategic activities, utilising this information where appropriate;
- Lead the management of all aspects of the distribution and marketing of financial products and services in Germany, including the development of marketing materials such as advertising, presentations and roadshows;
- Lead the planning, organisation and participation for all client events and representing Monex at conferences and events promoting the company’s products and services.
Compliance, Risk & Regulatory
- Working effectively and collaboratively with Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance teams to complete the Client onboarding process in line with Company and regulatory requirements;
- Ensure adherence with BdE and local regulations.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Previous Sales and Leadership experience within a Business to Business (BtoB) role;
- Experience of working within a regulated financial services firm;
- Able to work autonomously and independently;
- Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the purpose of risk management and compliance within a regulated environment;
- Extensive proven knowledge of FX products;
- Able to build credibility with clients and colleagues across a complex organisation with different cultures and geographies;
- Experience leading by example, embodying the culture and values of the Company;
- Able to anticipate issues and risks and mitigate accordingly.
Systems / Knowledge Skills
- MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Databases – FXDB (In House)
- HR Systems – Workday
Languages
- High standard of oral & written German and English is mandatory;
- Fluency in other European languages (e.g. Spanish, Dutch, German, Luxembourgish etc.) is desirable.
