MECCA is looking for a Head of Design to help shape the creative future of the world’s best beauty brand. This role is for a design leader who is passionate about craft, culture and impact, and who wants to build ideas, teams and experiences that resonate deeply with our customers.

The Role You Could Play

Reporting to the Head of Creative, the Head of Design will lead a multi-disciplinary Design team, partnering closely with the wider Creative team, Visual Merchandising, Content, Digital Marketing, eComm, Brand Experience and Loyalty teams to deliver world-class campaigns and experiences in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities and deliverables also include:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing design team delivering world-class creative across campaigns, events, activations, brand initiatives and new store experiences.
  • Set and drive the design vision, ensuring best-in-class execution across retail, digital, print, OOH and social, with a strong balance of craft, commercial impact and brand distinctiveness.
  • Champion bold, strategically grounded ideas by facilitating and leading concepting sessions in partnership with Design and Content teams.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Digital, Retail and broader stakeholders to translate business objectives and briefs into design-led creative solutions that drive results.
  • Navigate complexity with confidence, developing innovative responses to fast-moving briefs and evolving priorities.
  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Creative to define, protect and evolve MECCA’s brand standards, ensuring consistency, relevance and creative ambition as the business grows.
  • Co-lead strategic workshops and creative working sessions for priority projects, helping shape direction, unlock opportunity and align teams.
  • Oversee design output across all channels, maintaining exceptional quality, clarity and coherence from concept through execution.

What You Will Bring

You are a senior creative leader with a strong point of view, able to inspire teams, build trust and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
You are a visual storyteller with a deep understanding of brand, campaigns and design strategy, and a proven ability to bring brand narratives to life across digital, print, in-store, OOH and social.

You are solutions-focused and commercially aware, comfortable managing multiple projects from long-term brand platforms to tactical initiatives, while maintaining creative excellence. You lead from the front, support the Head of Creative, and contribute to a strong, aligned creative leadership model that champions collaboration across departments.

In addition, our successful candidate will also have the following skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of experience delivering exceptional creative outcomes in design or advertising agencies, or leading design within innovative consumer brands.
  • 4+ years' experience managing, mentoring and developing designers and creatives, with a proven ability to grow and develop talent, whilst managing  stakeholders and delivering projects on time and to budget.
  • Strong collaborator who balances creative ambition with commercial and operational realities.
  • Confident presenter and influencer, able to sell ideas, shape thinking and champion bold creative with conviction.
  • Demonstrated experience leading work from concept to execution across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Deep understanding of digital-to-physical marketing and designing for diverse environments, from paid media and social to in-store experiences.
  • Exceptional communicator who gives and receives feedback in a clear, constructive and inspiring way.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
