Job Summary

The Head of Data Analytics is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and driving the organization’s data analytics vision, strategy, and execution. This individual leads a team of data professionals, leveraging data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making, optimize operations, and enhance business outcomes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

• Define and execute the organization’s Data Analytics strategy aligned with business goals.
• Lead the design and implementation of analytics frameworks, processes, and tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
• Champion a data-driven culture across the organization, promoting the use of analytics for competitive advantage.

2. Analytics Delivery and Insights:

• Oversee the creation of actionable insights from complex data sets to support business decisions.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality analytics solutions, including dashboards, reports, predictive models, and advanced analytics.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis and recommend actionable strategies.

3. Team Leadership and Development:

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing analytics team, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
• Define team goals, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
• Promote innovation and the adoption of advanced analytics methodologies and tools.

4. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business challenges and translate them into analytics use cases.
• Act as a trusted advisor to executives, providing insights that influence strategic decisions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate analytics into core business processes.

5. Data Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
• Safeguard data privacy and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).
• Promote data quality and integrity across all analytics initiatives.

6. Technology and Innovation:

• Evaluate and recommend cutting-edge analytics technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance capabilities.
• Drive the adoption of machine learning, AI, and other advanced techniques to deliver innovative solutions.
• Ensure the scalability and sustainability of analytics systems and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

Experience:

• 8-12+ years of experience in data analytics or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading data analytics teams and delivering measurable business impact.
• Expertise in advanced analytics techniques, data visualization, and predictive modeling.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and regulatory requirements.

Skills:

• Strategic thinking with the ability to align analytics initiatives with business objectives.
• Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), programming languages (e.g., Python, R), and big data technologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and drive innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.

Education

Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology
