Job Description

JOB TITLE: Head of Cyber and Physical Defence Centre

SALARY: From £125,000 dependent on experience and location

LOCATION(S): This position is based in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol or London, and will involve periodic travel between these locations.

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our office location.

Join us as the Head of the Cyber and Physical Defence Centre and lead our mission to provide world-class security operations at Lloyds Banking Group. This is an outstanding opportunity to steer a transformation in security strategy and implementation that will improve our resilience and competitiveness. You'll play a key role in crafting an ambitious vision for the future, working closely with the Chief Security Office and across the Group. Your efforts will be instrumental in delivering a flawless security operation that is second to none in the industry.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic direction and vision to the security operations team, ensuring their efforts are aligned with the latest innovations in cyber defence. Your leadership will rigorously prioritise tasks that deliver maximum value to our collaborators.

  • Lead and coordinate incident response efforts, ensuring swift and effective containment, eradication, and recovery from security breaches. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimise impact and restore normal operations, while developing strategies to prevent future incidents.

  • Build and maintain a high-performing and skilled team capable of delivering 24/7 security operations. Your goal will be to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning, ensuring our operations remain robust and agile.

  • Be accountable for achieving key performance metrics, including cost efficiency, contributions to strategic outcomes, and overall customer happiness. Your insights will drive simplification and improvement of security operations.

  • Handle risks related to security operations through collaboration with senior engineers, the CSO, and business leaders to ensure alignment with strategy and industry standard methodologies.

  • Set a collaborative and innovative culture within the security operations team, promoting ownership of outcomes and a proactive approach to challenges.

What you’ll need

  • Security Operations Management: Proven proficiency in leading and enhancing security operations processes using powerful methodologies, techniques, and tools. Ability to craft the strategic direction for cross-functional teams, with a history of leading a CD/CR operation.

  • Threat-led Approach: A strategic mentality with a deep understanding of cyber threats and an approach that prioritizes threats for detection and response. Your ability to anticipate and analyse potential risks will inform proactive measures and comprehensive strategies to mitigate emerging threats.

  • Customer Centricity: A strong focus on promoting secure customer outcomes, ensuring that all team efforts align with these values for maximum impact.

  • Operations Ownership: Demonstrated leadership in handling security operations across multiple teams, delivering operational changes, and ensuring the success of security initiatives.

  • Leadership & Culture: Experience in driving cultural change initiatives, understanding the barriers to change, and encouraging leadership consensus. Your ability to encourage others through personal integrity and collaboration will be key.
