Our client, a foremost payment, telecom, and enterprise solutions company, is looking to hire an Internal Control and Audit Officer who will be responsible for The Head of Compliance. The Head of Compliance is responsible for leading all compliance activities for the Group in line with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations and global best practices. The role ensures effective regulatory compliance, AML/CFT oversight, risk monitoring, and internal process integrity across the Group’s operations. The individual will also collaborate with leadership to strengthen internal controls, promote operational discipline, and support audit readiness within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. REGULATORY & COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT (PRIMARY)
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure the Group and its subsidiaries comply with all CBN guidelines, circulars, and regulatory expectations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide compliance frameworks and policies.
• Monitor regulatory updates and advise management on implications.
AML/CFT Oversight:
• Oversee Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance.
• Coordinate suspicious transaction monitoring and reporting to the NFIU.
• Ensure effective KYC, CDD, and EDD processes across the Group’s Fintech and MFB channels.
• Conduct AML/CFT awareness training for teams.
Regulatory Reporting & Engagement:
• Prepare and file all mandatory returns accurately and on schedule.
• Coordinate regulatory audits, inquiries, and examinations.
• Maintain positive working relationships with CBN, NFIU, and relevant regulators.

Product & Operational Compliance:
• Review new products, features, processes, and integrations for compliance risks.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure regulatory alignment.
• Promote compliance culture across the organization.

2. RISK MANAGEMENT & INTERNAL CONTROL SUPPORT
Risk Monitoring:
• Identify compliance and operational risks, assess impact, and recommend improvement actions.
• Maintain and update compliance risk register across the Group businesses.

Internal Process Assurance:
• Review internal processes to ensure adherence to policies, controls, and regulatory expectations.
• Work with relevant units to improve efficiency, internal controls, and fraud-prevention systems.
• Facilitate readiness for internal and external audits.
Collaboration with Group-Level Leadership:
• Provide compliance insights to Group leadership where necessary.
• Share best practices that enhance internal controls and governance.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions that relate to risk and process improvement


Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
• A Master’s degree is an added advantageAML/CFT Certification (CAMS, ACAMS, ICA)
• ICAN/ACCA (for audit or finance-oriented candidates)
• CFE, CIA, CISA (added benefit)
• 6–10 years experience in Fintech or banking compliance, Regulatory reporting, AML/CFT operations, Risk management or internal control
• Experience in payments, digital finance, switching, or PSSP operations is highly desirable.
• Strong familiarity with CBN compliance requirements.
• Deep understanding of CBN regulatory requirements for PSSPs and digital financial services.
• Strong AML/CFT, KYC, and risk-governance knowledge.
• Ability to evaluate product flows for compliance and operational risks.
• Excellent documentation and reporting ability.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or related field
