About Sygaldry

Sygaldry Technologies is building quantum-accelerated AI servers to exponentially speed up training and inference for AI. By integrating quantum and AI, we're accelerating the path to superintelligence, and addressing the problem of rising compute costs and energy bottlenecks. Sygaldry AI servers combine multiple qubit types within a single, fault-tolerant architecture to deliver the combination of cost, scale, and speed necessary for advanced AI applications. We pioneer new domains in physics, engineering, and AI, tackling the hardest challenges with a grounded, optimistic, and rigorous culture. We're looking for individuals ready to define the intersection of quantum and AI and drive its profound global impact.

About the Role

We're hiring our first Head of Communications to define and build Sygaldry's communications function from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will personally craft our brand narrative, write and pitch stories to the media, lead our website build, coach executives on communications, and set the strategic direction for how Sygaldry shows up in the world.

You'll work closely with the founding team, including our CEO, Chad Rigetti, to translate pioneering technical work into narratives that resonate with scientific, technical, and mainstream audiences alike. You'll manage external agency partners and lay the foundation to scale the function as the company grows.

The person who takes this role will shape how Sygaldry is perceived from the beginning. That's a rare opportunity, and we're looking for someone who recognizes it.

What You’ll Own

  • Communications Strategy: Define and own Sygaldry’s communications roadmap, setting priorities that support thought leadership, product milestones, and market positioning. Identify the moments that matter most for the company and build campaigns around them. Measure what’s working and iterate as the company evolves.

  • Brand & Narrative: Build Sygaldry’s core messaging framework, brand voice, and positioning, including translating technical concepts. Ensure consistency across every touchpoint, from website copy to decks to social presence.

  • Media Relations: Foster relationships with key journalists and outlets. Develop and execute press strategy, write press releases and announcements, and manage communications.

  • Website & Digital Presence: Work with agencies to own the company website end-to-end, from content strategy and copywriting to project-managing design and development through launch. Keep the site current as the company evolves, ensuring it communicates Sygaldry’s mission, technology, and culture effectively to every audience.

  • Executive Communications: Serve as a strategic communications advisor to Sygaldry leaders. Prepare executives for media interviews, conference panels, keynotes, and investor presentations, including talking points, messaging guidance, and presentation coaching. Help drive the cadence and clarity of internal communications as the company scales.

  • Event support: Spearhead efforts to amplify Sygaldry’s presence at conferences, events, and recruiting engagements. Secure speaking opportunities for executives, coordinate company-hosted events, and support asset creation.

You May Be a Good Fit If You

We're looking for a senior communications professional with at least 10 years of experience, including time at startups or in technical organizations. Beyond that, a few things matter most:

  • You've built or significantly shaped a communications function, not just executed within one. You know what it looks like to start from scratch.

  • You're a strong writer who personally drafts the work. Press releases, website copy, executive talking points, blog posts – you do this yourself, not just review others' drafts.

  • You can translate complex technical material into narratives that land with scientists, engineers, and general audiences. You won't need us to dumb things down for you.

  • You have established media relationships in AI, tech, or science journalism, or a track record of building them quickly.

  • You've managed external PR or communications agencies and know how to get the most out of those relationships.

  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and self-direction. This role reports to the founding team, not a large marketing org.

How We’re Different

At Sygaldry, curiosity and intellectual courage drive our work. We approach ambitious challenges with a grounded, optimistic, and rigorous culture and know that kind people build the strongest teams. We prioritize mission over ego and collaborate openly with a strong sense of shared purpose. We dream big, yet we execute with a love of detail. We’re looking for scientists, engineers, and operators to forge new paths with us at the intersection of quantum and AI.

Culture & Benefits

We are an equal opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. If you don’t think this role is right for you, but you believe that you would have something meaningful to contribute to our mission, please reach out at [email protected]

Skills Required

  • Proven experience building or significantly shaping a communications/PR function from scratch.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to personally draft press releases, website copy, blog posts, and executive materials.
  • Ability to translate complex technical (quantum and AI) material into narratives for scientific, technical, and mainstream audiences.
  • Established media relationships in AI, tech, or science journalism, or demonstrated ability to build them quickly.
  • Experience managing external PR or communications agencies and maximizing agency performance.
  • Experience owning website content strategy and project-managing design and development through launch.
  • Experience advising and preparing executives for media interviews, panels, keynotes, and investor presentations.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, self-direction, and working closely with a founding team.
