The Comms Team is responsible for conveying Snap’s mission, vision and values to core audiences within our community, which include Snapchatters, advertising partners, content partners, investors, policymakers, and Snap team members. This passionate team works hard to show the world what makes Snapchat the best platform for communication and storytelling, and to ensure the narratives about the company, its people, and its products are accurate and compelling.

We’re looking for a Head of UK Communications to join our team!

What you'll do:

  • Be responsible for developing and driving our UK communications strategy for the business, laying out a detailed plan for achieving objectives and clear, measurable results

  • Develop and maintain the external narrative of our UK business, in close partnership with the UK GM

  • Lead a team of two comms and media specialists to execute the UK comms strategy across national, business, b2b and consumer/lifestyle media + creator engagement 

  • Take an audience-led approach to developing a diverse comms strategy that reaches advertisers/agencies, parents, policymakers and Snapchatters

  • Shape and influence stakeholder thinking and expectations, building trust in a kind, smart and creative environment

  • Drive positive reputational outcomes in the UK and take a hands-on approach to driving activity across the market with your team'

  • Be a critical partner to cross-functional teams across the business, including Marketing, Policy, UK Sales, Talent & Partnerships, Creative Strategy and Business Insights - collaborating to align with the right strategies and desired outcomes 

  • Lead and develop work that:

    • Highlights our contribution to the UK economy, technology leadership and growing community. 

    • Educates brands and creative agencies about our products, strategy and creative campaigns, driving share of voice in key trade and vertical sector press.

    • Demonstrates the work we do to keep Snapchatters safe and the tools/resources available for our community. 

    • Shows Snapchat’s relevance and importance in the daily lives of our community 

  • Build, strengthen and nurture key media relationships including national tech, business and industry trades and have responsibility and oversight of the UK press office

  • Work closely with UK management to prepare them for media interviews, speaking engagements and internal milestone moments, 

  • Inspire others to do great work and lead from the front in showing what great ideas and results look like, while supporting and mentoring the UK Comms team to help them grow and develop 

  • Lead and manage our agency partner relationships in the UK to deliver a drumbeat of moments and coverage aligned to our business goals

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the media and be a trusted contact for reporters who rely on you for timely, accurate information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of the media landscape in the UK, across national, business, advertising and industry trade media.

  • Strong understanding and experience of working cross-functionally with our partners in Global Brand Experience, Marketing, Talent Partnerships and Policy.

  • Strong stakeholder management both internally and externally

  • Experience of working on relevant multidisciplinary communications programs with strong experience in B2B communications

  • Comfortable with the uncertainty of change and able to deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes.

  • Strong news judgement and relationships with top tier media and influencers

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritise effectively to deliver against business priorities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, make decisions, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines

  • Experience of working with agencies and managing external partners

  • Implement smart use of tools like AI to help aide our comms function
