Job Summary

The Head of Client Solutions will lead and direct the strategic delivery of bespoke, derivative-based solutions to our identified Corporate as well as Institutional clients within South Africa. This role requires the dexterity to solution for the yield enhancement needs of Institutional Investors, as well as the risk management concerns of Corporate, Sovereign and Public Sector entities alike. The successful execution of this role is envisaged to enable the continuation of enhanced Absa Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) returns orientation business delivery.
The successful incumbent will have a BCom/Honours degree with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Global Markets which must include proven experience in Sales and Structuring. A track record in managing derivatives sales teams (Institutional or Corporate) within a dynamic Global Markets environment coupled with the ability to drive strategy and influence decisions at a senior stakeholder level.

Job Description

  • Manage CIB’s Corporate and Institutional Derivative business in South Africa. Included in this is working with all internal product partners to identify cross sell opportunities across the Bank’s client base.
  • Play an active part in all local and international events that have a risk management element related to industry best practice and thought leadership. As such the team is recognized by global partners as the primary contact for any related client requests and opportunities.
  • Client Solutions Group (CSG) is an integral partner to Investment Banking Division and Client Coverage not only from a product perspective but also working with these teams on appropriate solutioning for our clients. Key to this is to ensure the alignment between these business units required, and the general level of proactiveness necessary to meet the ambitious goals set for the business.
  • Take an active role in working with clients to enable them to develop the appropriate Risk Management strategies in line with their governance structures up to their Board level.
  • Work with clients on event type trades, with a Balance Sheet consequence, The success of the team will be evidenced by the revenue numbers achieved and the depth of our client relationships.
  • Set and communicate a long-term strategy that clearly articulates strategic targets and metrics to align the delivery of the business against the Bank’s strategic objectives and targets and shareholder expectations
  • Position CSG SA as a key service provider to the relevant business units serving as its customer.
  • Provide ongoing advice and direction to the operational environments managed by this role in terms of the areas of focus, opportunities, key targets and relative policies, legislative and regulatory environments.
  • Together with the Human Capital function, determine the people management strategy for the business unit aligned to the overall business strategy
  • Identify and take accountability for the assigned principal risks relevant to the area in terms of the Absa Operational Risk Management framework and ensure that adequate controls are in place within the role’s area of responsibility.
