The Head of Business Development leads strategic growth initiatives across Wholesure's wholesale brokerage, contract binding, specialty, and programs operations. This position drives expansion of the Wholesure footprint by developing new market opportunities, cultivating relationships with retail agents and insurance carriers, and executing on strategic consolidation and carrier alliance initiatives that strengthen Wholesure's competitive position.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Growth & Market Expansion- Design and execute comprehensive business development strategies to expand Wholesure's presence across property & casualty, contract binding, and programs operations
- Identify untapped opportunities across new geographic regions, market segments, and industry verticals
- Establish strategic partnerships with insurance carriers, Wholesure brokers, retail agencies, and industry counterparts
- Work closely with the Head of E&S and their team to execute strategic carrier alliances, carrier book rolls, and partnership initiatives
- Support Wholesure brokers in expanding their books of business through targeted development initiatives
- Collaborate with regional and division leads across all four Acrisure regions to enhance market penetration, client retention, and cross-functional alignment
- Drive consolidation strategy around third-party wholesale consolidation, identifying acquisition targets and integration opportunities
- Lead acquisition efforts of new retail agents while building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing retail insurance agencies and agents
- Foster partnerships with insurance carriers and MGAs that drive mutual growth and elevated client satisfaction
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Wholesure's product portfolio, including P&C brokerage, contract binding, and programs
- Serve as a brand ambassador at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to strengthen market presence
- Generate new revenue streams and optimize existing ones through strategic commission structures, incentive programs, and cross-selling initiatives
- Empower brokers to grow their businesses by providing lead generation support, marketing campaigns, Auris workflow optimization, and strategic introductions
- Ensure retail agents are aligned with the right brokers and tools to meet their specific needs and maximize success
- Identify books of business that could lead to program development opportunities
- Address coverage gaps by identifying classes of business where Wholesure struggles to offer solutions and developing strategies to enhance capabilities (recruiting talent, developing new carrier relationships, etc.)
- Maintain a deep understanding of all property & casualty insurance lines, contract binding options, and programs available
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, market dynamics and competitive landscape to inform strategy
- Research and recommend innovative technologies that enhance operational efficiencies
- Regularly connect with Practice Leaders and brokerage teams to understand their needs, concerns, and opportunities
- Serve as gatekeeper for the Acrisure wholesale swap and remarket tools, ensuring alignment across all four Acrisure platforms and effective execution of our growth strategy
- Maintain connectivity with Scott Carlton and his team to ensure seamless regional implementation and coordination
- Drive standardization and best practices across Acrisure platforms for maximum operational efficiency
- Partner with corporate marketing to align messaging, develop promotional strategies, and advance business development objectives while providing marketing direction and project management support
- Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to advance business initiatives and contracting processes
- Collaborate with operations to ensure seamless service delivery across P&C, binding, and programs divisions
- Work with internal teams to execute company events that strengthen the brand both internally and externally
- Establish and monitor KPIs to measure business development effectiveness across all product lines
- Deliver regular reporting with strategic insights to senior leadership
- Provide revenue forecasts and market trend analysis to inform both short- and long-term planning decisions
- Track consolidation opportunities and program development pipeline
This role requires strong leadership capabilities, comprehensive wholesale insurance experience, strategic thinking, deep industry knowledge, and exceptional relationship-building skills—all focused on driving sustainable growth and consolidation for Wholesure's operations. The ideal candidate will bring industry expertise to encompass the full breadth of property and casualty insurance, with proven ability to execute complex carrier alliances and multi-regional strategic initiatives.
