Job Description Summary
The Head of Business Development Germany is responsible for overseeing the marketing and research strategy and resources across the country.
This senior role is designed to support the growth of the German business by setting and executing the marketing strategy, thought leadership + insight agenda, as well as business development programs to drive client engagement, generate leads and opportunities for the business.
This role will be critical to support the growth and repositioning of the German business, be part of the German senior leadership team (SLT) as well as the EMEA marketing & research leadership team.
The role will ensure connectivity between the marketing and research functions to improve the client experience in Germany, as well as maintaining an operating model that achieves efficiencies and drives productivity improvements.
An important part of the role will be to create engagement opportunities with our key clients, to extend and deepen those relationships for our sales professionals. Customer acquisition and retention via our digital ecosystem is also an important part of the job.
The role will directly report to and work closely with the Head of Business Development, APAC + EMEA to ensure consistency of client experience, consistency of process and operational excellence across the EMEA region.
Job Description
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure marketing & research teams are focused on supporting local sales and transaction related activities, driving opportunities and leads into the business
- Manage the local marketing & research resources from a resource planning, talent management -- including evaluation recruiting, and career development point of view
- Build the profile of the firm in the local markets, utilising both the content generated by the research specialists and the channels leveraged by the marketing team
- Plan and execute a marketing & research programs for Germany that includes thought leadership, content strategy, digital channels, client specific marketing, client events, PR & Communications, and internal communications
- Facilitate and supervise market thought leadership and research production through analysis of data, trends and perspectives to local leadership, the marketing team, and fee-earners
- Directly support the generation of revenue through bid management support, working with the EMEA regional team to share best practices, win strategies and sales approaches.
- Gather, analyse and use regional and local market competitive, client, and industry insights to inform business development strategies and optimise impact of spend
- Create metrics, undertake analysis to ensure the investments in marketing & research deliver ROI
- Leverage the power of our digital ecosystem across Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Engage, our global website and other digital channels for the value of the business
- Develop Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budget and manage marketing & research spend within the agreed AOP
- Contribute as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team in Germany
- Perform other related duties as required or requested.
KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
- Adaptable, with the ability to coordinate both functions of marketing & research though strong leadership of a diverse team

- Strategic thinking balanced with execution and local implementation
- Ability to prioritize projects and resources that will drive local sales & transactions
- Strong communications skills (presentation, written)
- Strong capability to problem-solve with the ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently in a deadline-driven, dynamic environment
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years’ experience in senior roles in professional services or real estate sector. A deep understanding of the real estate services market would be an advantage but is not essential
- Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Communications, Research, Economics, Property preferred
- Senior roles that have had responsibility for content, marketing & communications, digital channels, data & insights
- Experience in setting and implementing client-focused strategies that deliver business outcomes
- Proven track record in project management
- Team management experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
