Join our new Risk & Internal Control, Business Assurance, & Security department (RBA & S) and shape the future of Business Assurance! 

Role and responsibilities 

We are excited to announce the launch of our re-designed Risk & Internal Control, Business Assurance, & Security (RBA & S) department. RBA & S protects ASML by embedding risk and internal control awareness, business assurance and security into day-to-day decision-making and long-term strategy. We maintain independent oversight of key risks, internal controls, business continuity management, business assurance and security activities, enabling the business to take full ownership.  

The RBA & S organization consists out of five departments: Strategic Risk Management, Internal Control over Regulatory Compliance, Business Assurance, Security, and RBA & S Culture & Transformation. 

For the Business Assurance department we are looking for a talented professional to be our new Head of Business Assurance The aim of the head of Business Assurance is to:  

  • Provide independent insight, evaluation and advice related to risks, mitigating measures and processes to enhance operational resilience, regulatory compliance, (strategic) decision-making and overall risk management.

  • Lead and develop a team of audit related experts, empowering the team to drive business assurance excellence across ASML.

You engage with senior leadership, Internal Audit, and external stakeholders. You will work in close alignment with business assurance managers and experts In this role you are reporting into the Chief Accounting Officer & Head of RBA & S and will be part of her leadership team.  

  • Lead Investigations: Enable a continuously learning and improving organization by providing ASML leadership with valuable insights and lessons learned derived from investigations/root-cause analyses, recommending corrective and preventive actions​.

  • Oversee and coordinate assurance activities: Drive rationalized, balanced and risk-based assurance activities throughout ASML, ensuring that the assurance efforts and level of assurance obtained are aligned with the risk exposure of ASML​.

  • Support external audits: Provide ASML with assurance expertise in preparing and undergoing external audits, ensuring optimal audit outcomes.

  • RBA & S vision & cross-domain alignment: Set a clear RBA & S strategy, roadmap and priorities. Ensure a proper coordination across RBA & S domains and countries. Lead RBA & S through a transformation. 

  • Team leadership & capability building: Develop and lead the Business Assurance team, ensuring availability of expertise, tools, and mandate, enabling the team to drive business assurance excellence across ASML. Empower team members and enable (cross-sector) career growth and development paths.

  • Stakeholder engagement: Build strategic partnerships with (senior) internal and external stakeholders, embedding internal control mindset across ASML.

 

Education and experience 
  • Hold a Bachelor or Master degree.

  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience.

  • Strong understanding of (internal and external) audit & investigations methodology and processes.​ 

  • Expertise in root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., Five Whys, Fishbone Diagram) to diagnose and address systemic issues.​ 

  • Experience in a similar business context, priorities, processes, and dependencies within a large international organization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of governance, risk & internal control, or regulatory compliance topics to ensure effective cross-collaboration with the rest of the leadership team.  

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise (senior) stakeholders across functions in a complex, matrixed organization with geographically distributed teams​.

  • Proven experience in developing forward-looking strategies that address future risks and opportunities, with measurable business impact.

  • Instill trust: Track record in establishing open communication and psychologically safe workplace culture, demonstrates self-awareness​.

  • Inspire: Proven ability to set a compelling vision, motivate teams into actions, and act as a role model for all people leaders.

  • Manage people: Experience in building, leading and enabling diverse, high-performing teams.
