Background & Purpose of the Job 

Born in Brooklyn over a 150 years ago, Vaseline is now the largest hand and body brand globally with turnover of over a billion euros annually, and one of Unilever’s 30 Power Brands.  The North American market is the brand’s largest market and an important growth engine as one of B&W North America’s 5 strategic brands.  The Vaseline brand has enjoyed strong and competitive growth over the last several years, and we are looking for an experienced Marketing Director to lead this critically important brand for B&W on its continued growth trajectory in North America.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do 

This role provides an incredible opportunity for a Beauty Marketer to drive the multi-year Vaseline business growth strategy through the leadership of both the innovation and demand creation teams. The Head of Vaseline will be responsible for the North America (US & Canada) future brand growth strategy, innovation plans, as well as in-year marketing led demand creation for the US.    

Big Deliverables: 

  • Fully own and lead the multi-year Vaseline brand strategy to accelerate growth and drive competitiveness, including identifying future growth spaces 5+ years out, defining the destination brand architecture and the innovation / renovation roadmap to deliver competitive, profitable and sustainable growth. 
  • Input to the rolling 3-year B&W portfolio strategic plan (owned by the CEO B&W NA) and share accountability with the CSP/Ops team for delivering the final agreed upon brand-specific strategic plan targets (USG, GM, UOM, market share and sustainability).  
  • Lead and inspire the full brand marketing team, acting as the guardian of the brand equity in North America and ensuring the brand fundamentals are well understood by the full team – Brand Key, BCI, Distinctive Brand Assets/Memory Structures, Brand Guidelines and Brand Worlds. 
  • Lead the innovation team to translate the aligned brand growth strategy into a 12Q plan of winning innovation mixes to deliver future growth as per the strategic plan for the brand in US and CA. 
  • Translate business strategy into actionable marketing plans, defining the communications and marketing strategy, and leading a team of internal and agency specialists, including content creation and community management, influencer marketing, PR and media to execute that strategy. 
  • Bring Vaseline purpose and product to life through big-impact, unmissable, experiential activations across relevant communities. 

Relevant Experience: 

  • 10+ years marketing experience with increasing responsibility in innovation and demand creation. 
  • A demonstrated track record of progressive leadership in beauty, delivering brand growth and social impact 
  • Previous leadership of social-first teams and marketing strategies 
  • Experience leading a powerhouse of content creation across internal and agency teams to development impactful brand communication, connecting the brand to culture, driving earned reach and improved ROI. 
  • Senior leadership and influence across functional reporting lines and galvanizing teams across functions to deliver innovation and brand strategies

  • Ability to both influence up for impact while rolling up your sleeves and co-creating, working and teaching a team – this role has 10 people directly reporting into the Head of Brand, with many more x-functional partners looking to the Head of Brand for leadership.
  • Drive accountability, both personally and across teams, in a way that inspires and creates excitement 
  • Ability to be based with your team and business out of Hoboken, NJ with travel up to 25%

Pay: The pay range for this position is $210,600 to $421,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
