Role Summary:
The Head of Blockchain & Crypto Audit will lead the internal audit function for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency-related activities, focusing on identifying and mitigating risks associated with these innovative technologies and products. This individual will serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert on blockchain and crypto, ensuring robust oversight, risk management, and compliance with relevant regulations while collaborating with technical and operational teams to enhance organizational resilience. This position requires a forward-looking leader who can bridge the gap between traditional financial controls and the rapidly evolving blockchain and cryptocurrency landscape. This individual will play a critical role in positioning the audit organization as a trusted and innovative leader in this space.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a comprehensive audit strategy for blockchain technologies, cryptocurrency products, and related operations.

Provide expertise on blockchain and cryptocurrency risks, controls, and opportunities to senior management and the Audit Committee.

Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and regulations within blockchain and crypto ecosystems.
2. Risk Management and Assessment

Identify, assess, and prioritize risks associated with blockchain protocols, crypto assets, decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization, smart contracts, and custody solutions.

Evaluate governance frameworks, operational processes, and third-party risk specific to blockchain and crypto products.

Ensure alignment with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
3. Audit Execution

Lead audits focused on blockchain infrastructure, crypto custody, wallet security, key management, transaction monitoring, and smart contract auditing.

Assess the effectiveness of controls designed to mitigate risks such as fraud, market manipulation, operational errors, and cybersecurity threats.

Collaborate with technology teams to audit the integrity, scalability, and security of blockchain platforms.
4. Team Development and Collaboration

Recruit, train, and mentor a team of professionals with expertise in blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and emerging technologies.

Collaborate with other internal audit teams to integrate blockchain and crypto risks into enterprise-wide audit plans.

Partner with Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, and Technology teams to ensure a holistic approach to blockchain and crypto oversight.
5. Regulatory and Industry Engagement

Act as the organization's point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations related to blockchain and cryptocurrency activities.

Represent the organization in industry forums and working groups to stay at the forefront of blockchain and crypto developments.
6. Data and Analytics

Leverage blockchain analytics tools to assess transaction integrity, identify anomalies, and evaluate compliance with AML/CTF regulations.

Utilize data visualization and reporting tools to communicate audit findings effectively.
7. Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Monitor advancements in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency markets, and Web3 ecosystems to identify potential risks and opportunities.

Recommend process improvements and innovative control solutions to address gaps in blockchain and crypto risk management.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, or related fields, with a focus on risk management, compliance, or security.
- Expertise: Strong understanding of blockchain protocols, consensus mechanisms, cryptographic principles, and smart contracts.
- Experience with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainanalysis, Elliptic, or TRM Labs.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, custody solutions, and tokenomics.
- Leadership: The ability to lead with authority, inspire confidence across the organization, and establish the audit function as a critical enabler of trust and innovation in this rapidly evolving industry.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (blockchain certifications such as CBP, C4 CBP, or similar preferred).

The salary range for this position is $210,000 - $315,000. The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
