Our current presence in Poland:
Our Baltic Power offshore wind farm is the most advanced offshore wind project in Poland and the first to have reached the construction phase. In 2023, the project received a final investment decision (FID) as well as financing from 25 international institutions. Both onshore and offshore installations are underway at the moment. Baltic Power will be among the world’s first projects to install 15 MW wind turbines and the first Polish offshore wind farm operating in the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Power farm will be able to cover 3% of the national electricity demand, which stands for the energy needs of over 1,5 million households in Poland.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced senior leader to advance Northland’s interests in the Baltic Sea Region. This role will be based in our Warsaw office (4 days per week), with travel as required across Central Europe.

What You’ll Do:

As our Head of the Baltic Sea Region, you will be the driving force behind our growth in central Europe and the Baltic Sea region, acting as the voice of the market internally and developing / executing regional strategies to achieve Northland’s growth targets. You’ll also be the spokesperson for Northland in the region, building partnerships by strengthening relationships with government decision makers, key-influencers and relevant stakeholders with a goal of enhancing Northland’s portfolio in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Go to market strategy: With a focus on Poland, turn local market insights into clear tactical plans that grow our business across the Baltic Sea region.
  • Grow our reach: Build and help nurture Northland’s long-term partnerships. Participate in industry events and trade fairs to boost awareness and stay close to market trends.
  • Support M&A activities: Drive growth through acquisitions, ensuring successful integration and value creation across the Region.
  • Lead communication and stakeholder management in Poland: enhance Northland’s visibility, create and own media, marketing, and PR strategy within the region.
  • Government Relations: Build and foster key relationships with government officials, and monitor and respond to regulatory shifts. Represent Northland at energy regulatory working groups and professional associations.
  • HSE, Risk Management and Compliance: Understand and comply with the laws and regulations in Poland to ensure Northland’s business activities are compliant. Identify and evaluate potential risks and take appropriate measures to manage and mitigate them.
  • Team and Office Leadership: Establish and oversee day-to-day operations of Northland’s Warsaw office. Recruit a local team to fit growth plans.
  • Budget Management and Financial Oversight: Oversee the budget and control costs to ensure the achievement of financial goals for the region.

Who You Are:

Collaborative: You build relationships easily and enjoy working as a team to get things done. You have experience working with joint venture partners and have the ability to influence outcomes, across all levels.

Results oriented: You have a bias for action and drive to balanced solutions that scale our business.

Cultural competence: You understand the legal, policy, economic, and cultural background of Poland.

Global experience: You are willing to travel to engage with teams and partners, and comfortable working flexible hours (for meetings with stakeholders in global locations.)

Experience & Education:

  • Knowledge of Polish development best practice, including permitting, consents, grid and community engagement
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging regulatory bodies, environmental agencies, local communities, and investors.
  • Established network amongst politicians, policy makers, regulators in Poland and further into the Baltic Sea region.
  • Advanced operational understanding of the European and, specifically, the Polish energy market.
  • Fluency in Polish and English.
