Job Duties and Responsibilities
An in-depth knowledge of disaster related mitigation programs to include the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA), including Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA); and Section 406 Hazard Mitigation.
- Ensure the coordination of the collection, distribution, and maintenance of HM funding and/or disaster-related information is properly disseminated.
- Serve as a coordinator and liaison to client counterparts regarding the implementation of FEMA mitigation grant programs.
- Write, develop, and/or review Mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with other FEMA programs, such as the Public Assistance mitigation activities under Section 406 of the Stafford Act. Perform the full range of implementation and managing activities for these programs.
- Provide the client with insight and coordination of technical assistance and participate in the coordination of project eligibility through analysis including technical feasibility, cost management, extensions, and project appeals of Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) project applications. Present the program and technical requirements to a varied professional audience.
- Provide technical assistance to our clients in support of their HMA Grants’ goals and objectives.
- Provide clear communication to assist with submission of reimbursements for HMGP as well as correspondence with FEMA regarding RFIs for projects.
- High proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite applications, and ability to quickly learn new computer software, programs, and utilize various video conferencing tools.
- Experience working with subrecipients in the request for reimbursement process.
- Experience working with Agency/Emergency Management in the reimbursement process for State Management Costs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated, responsible, and confident with a commitment to integrity.
- Must be detail oriented, very organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, or a related field or, if no degree, must have a minimum of five (3) years of related experience.
- Minimum of 1 years of professional experience working in the FEMA Public Assistance grant program and/or FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance program.
- Experience working with Federal, State and Local Governments on the HMA program.
- Project management or personnel/team management experience preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Enhanced background screening may be required by the client.

Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, five years of related experience without a degree
