  • As a Hardware Engineer with Software Verification expertise on our Robotic Truck Commissioning Team, you will play a critical role in developing, testing, and deploying advanced robotic systems for autonomous trucks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and system architects, to ensure both hardware and software components integrate seamlessly and function reliably. This role includes hands-on involvement in the commissioning process, ensuring that the systems are fully operational and meet all performance standards before deployment.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
    Support integration of new and existing self-driving software onto vehicles and test benches.
    Creates and completes engineering designs, working with others to conduct design reviews, assisting with models, intake, and processing of design requests.
    Perform 3D CAD modeling (preferably SolidWorks) and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing. Measures existing components and assembles and creates a 3D model.
    Oversee installation, integration, and operation of a sensor onto a vehicle from concept to installation (design, procurement, machine shop coordination, assembly, and installation).
    Work with the team for maintenance and repair as needed. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
    Confer with engineers or others to implement operating procedures, resolve malfunctions, or provide technical information for high success in operations.
    Designing componentry to integrate onto an existing vehicle infrastructure (modifying the existing hardware).
    Vehicle wiring and communication protocols to include Vehicle AC/DC, CAN bus, shielding, etc.
    Install parts onto a vehicle utilizing machining, tooling, and vehicle mechanical skills.

    • Hardware Design & Development:

      • Design, develop, and optimize hardware components for autonomous trucks, including sensors, control systems, and communication interfaces.
      • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to integrate robotic components into the vehicle platform effectively.
      • Conduct feasibility studies and performance analyses to inform hardware design decisions.
    • Software Verification & Validation:

      • Develop and execute comprehensive software verification plans to ensure system reliability and performance.
      • Create and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for validating software functionalities related to hardware components.
      • Identify, document, and track software defects, collaborating with software development teams to ensure timely resolution.
      • Perform regression testing to confirm that recent program or code changes have not adversely affected existing features.
      • Ensure compliance with industry-standard software quality and safety protocols throughout the development lifecycle.
    • System Integration & Testing:

      • Assist in the integration of hardware and software systems, ensuring seamless communication and interoperability between components.
      • Conduct system-level testing to validate overall performance, reliability, and safety standards.
      • Utilize diagnostic tools and methodologies to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues promptly.
    • Commissioning Activities:

      • Participate in on-site commissioning activities, including system calibration, functional testing, and performance tuning of robotic trucks.
      • Oversee the installation, setup, and initial testing of hardware and software systems in the field.
      • Work closely with field engineers and technicians to ensure all systems are correctly installed and configured.
      • Monitor system performance during commissioning to identify and resolve any issues that arise.
      • Document and report commissioning results, providing feedback and recommendations for further system improvements.
    • Documentation & Compliance:

      • Produce detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, test reports, and user manuals.
      • Ensure all hardware and software components meet relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
      • Maintain accurate records of testing procedures, results, and modifications for future reference and compliance audits.
    • Collaboration & Support:

      • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align hardware and software development processes and timelines.
      • Provide technical support and guidance to field engineers and technicians during the commissioning and deployment phases.
      • Participate in design and code reviews to contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.



Hiring Range for Job Opening 

US Pay Range

$98,800$118,600 USD
